I think a lot of us forget to appreciate all the fun facts we get from this app. The Nile river goes through 11 countries in Africa!!

I use this app to make sure I’m getting my daily tasks done because my mental health issues can get in the way of that. I also use the affirmations and emotion check in. But I think a lot of us over look how fun and cool it is to get little facts from all around the world! I like when Nathan discovers things we’ve all known for years like foods, sayings, songs, etc. but it’s also awesome when he teaches me something!
Just wanted to share something positive in all the chaos and (valid) negativity surrounding the new color situation.

Me when I take away literal color from the mental health app

I really really hope they go back to the normal colors but I’m doubting it. This is genuinely the worst thing they’ve done since getting rid of journeys

Story time: Had a really vivid dream that I met SK at a friend’s house and I had to ask him my two burning questions

I know this isn’t a common thing on this sub but I really want to share my SK dream because I think it’s really funny.
I was so excited that I had a friend of a friend who knew SK and he was just sitting on my friends couch. I felt bad for bothering him because I knew he heard this all the time but I still told him how big a fan I was and I asked if I could ask him a couple questions.
My first BURNING question for the king of horror was “Did you write Desperation or The Regulators first? or at the same time?” I guess my subconscious has wondered about this cause I don’t think I’ve ever pondered it much. His answer was Desperation.
Then I asked him about the story of a public works worker seeing a spider with cat heads on its web in (I think) Grey Matter from Night Shift and if that was the first occurrence of It in his writing. I feel like that’s a pretty solid question but I never got his answer because a bus crashed into the house and everything set on fire and it was revealed we were in a little doll house in a giant’s attic because that’s just how my dreams go

Today’s Challenge Goal, my take

I was looking for somewhere to write my “big life goal” like the first challenge goal says and I just saw this coloring I was working on earlier this evening. I thought you know what let’s just do it. I know doing six was ambitious but I live in the future a little (working on doing it in a more healthy way though) so I’m constantly thinking of my big life goals. Now I’ll work on this coloring throughout the next week or two and be reminded what Im doing this all for (including doing relaxing things like coloring). I blurred out my partner’s name.
Also ignore that I just posted on this sub twice in a row. Working on finding positive things in this month’s theme in light of the whole color fiasco lol

Anyways, I just wanted to share.

Idea for new feature: you and your bird matching energy

When you first open the app it asks you how much energy/motivation you have for the day on a scale of 1-10 or something. Kinda like how it used to ask your motivation for the day in the morning. Then the amount of energy that you say you have is the amount of energy your bird needs to get to leave for their adventure. So if you’re having a really low energy one day, you just need to get a couple goals done to send your bird on their way. Then seeing the bird on an adventure without the pressure might motivate to get more goals done. And on days when you wake up with a lot of energy or motivation, needing more goals done to send your bird on their adventure can help maintain that motivation.
Obviously you’d be able to toggle it on and off in a perfect world.
Anyways this just popped into my head

Rewatching VLD and taking notes…something I’ve wanted to do for awhile

For years I’ve wanted to rewatch all of Voltron and keep notes. It sounds stupid but VLD is one of my favorite things ever. I’m autistic and I guess you could say it’s one of my special interests. I’ve analyzed this show inside and out but I’ve never gone through and paused every time I had a thought or observation. I’m 15 minutes into S1E1 and I’ve got a whole page. Call me a nerd or call me obsessed, I don’t care and both are true.
Highlighter key:
Blue = plot hole or question
Pink = Headcanon (which makes it canon to me lol)
Yellow = Observation

girl can read minds, gives her migraines, catholic school

I read this from my seventh grade library in 2016. A girl who goes to catholic school can read minds but she can’t turn it off so she constantly has headaches. She wore sunglasses indoors to help with it but she had to get a doctors note cause her catholic school was really strict. I don’t remember anything else

coincidence? or do they sense each other?

Probably a really dumb question but this is my first time keeping two tarantulas on the same shelf. Usually I have them spread about. Just wondering if they can feel each other or if this is just a coincidence. My P. regalis (big guy on the left) is a mature male so it’s not out of the ordinary for him to be wandering about.

u/ghost_dreams_ — 25 days ago

Never been haired. Probably will change

I’ve never been haired. I recently got my third tarantula so I’m sure that will change. My first was an LP named Marcus and I hear they have the most irritating hairs among tarantulas. He had kicked at me during rehousing, moving, filling water bowl, the usual, but I got pretty lucky. As he got older, he got bald as most aging tarantulas do. My second tarantula is a P. Regalis named Robert. Old world so no hairs but a hefty bite to look out for. But I’ve never handled him because of that and he’s never even shown me a threat pose (he’s a pretty skittish and sweet guy).
I recently got my third tarantula, a Pumpkin Patch named Crouton Jacobs. I rehoused him a couple days ago into a bigger enclosure because he’s a juvenile now. He kicked a few times but I got lucky again! None hit me. I don’t know how either. During the rehouse, he was NOT happy with me removing a piece of cork bark that was all webbed up to put it in the new enclosure and he crawled onto the lid. I read that Pumpkin Patches are fast and skittish and I was not planning on handling him as it’s best to only handle when necessary. He kicked a few times as I was trying to get him into a cup and then ran all the way up my arm in the blink of an eye. It was stressful for all of us but I got him in the new enclosure and I didn’t get haired. I’m sure my luck will run out and I’ll get haired eventually as I’ve only been keeping tarantulas for two and a half years, but I just wanted to share.
pictures in order: Marcus, Robert, Crouton Jacobs

Update on Crouton Jacobs’ enclosure size

Thanks to this sub’s advice, I moved my Pumpkin Patch juvenile male, Crouton Jacobs, to a larger enclosure. Just wanted to include some pics of him getting used to his new new home

u/ghost_dreams_ — 28 days ago

Good enclosure size? Juvenile Pumpkin Patch. Penny for scale

This is Crouton Jacobs. He is a little less than a year old, had a molt in September, November, and his most recent molt was in March.
This enclosure looked bigger when I ordered it. I know if it’s too big it can stress them out but I’m worried this isn’t enough space for him. The water bowl I bought was too big as well so I got some moss really wet because I know that can be a hydration substitute when they’re little. There’s also a small cork bark and two little leaves. Obviously as he grows I was already planning on rehousing based on his size, but for now is this size okay? I included pictures of a tupperware and a little to-go enclosure I considered using as well, those I’m just worried about him getting out. If you guys think none of these options are good, I’ll buy something new. I would really appreciate some feedback because I want him as happy as possible! Thanks guys!!
For context, he’s only my third tarantula and the first two I bought already as adults because I knew it would be less complicated to care for and I wanted to get some tarantula experience before jumping in with trying to identify pre-molt and feeding after molting and all that.

TLDR: Is this a good enclosure size for a juvenile dwarf tarantula about a year old? Or would the other containers pictured be better?

My micropet glitch gives my partner a Toto Army!

I wasn’t interested in the Toto micropet when I got it, so I gifted it to my partner who uses Flinch more casually. The next day Toto was back so I simply released him, thinking the bug would go away. Then he came back again and again. I updated the app twice when bug repairs came out but he kept coming back. I thought about just keeping him but it honestly became a game for me (and he lowkey freaked me out by then LMAO). I gifted him to some friends I knew probably already had him, I released him a few more times, then I told my partner about the glitch and he said to just throw all the Totos his way because it was funny. Now he has a Toto Army!
Yesterday I gifted him his morning Toto and he didn’t come back today. Now I’m wondering if the infinite stream of Totos is over lol. Just wanted to share.

Patrick Hockstetter is my favorite IT character

I thought this was really niche and unusual and only recently became more active in this sub and I’m realizing he’s more popular than I thought 🤣 Every post asking about scariest scene, people bring up the maggots, every post about creepiest character, he’s there. I’m honestly really glad he gets the recognition the character deserves. I guess I thought people didn’t talk much about him, maybe because he has like three lines in the movies LMAO. Anyways, thought I was alone in absolutely loving his character and found out I’m not.
Also disclaimer because people have been offended by this before: he’s not my favorite character because i think he’s a good person, he’s my favorite CHARACTER because I really like him as a character. I like how he was this quiet side character who just followed along with the others until we learn about his condition and his past. The chapter where it takes us into his mind is fascinating.

Moved into a new apartment with a bigger bedroom so now I have a little SOC shelf!!

I included a zoomed out picture and a picture of my other book shelves just to get a feel for the room (and to prove I read other books even though I re read SOC and CK like twice a year lol) I love it!!

u/ghost_dreams_ — 1 month ago

Moved into a new apartment with a bigger bedroom so now I’ve got a proper spider corner for Robert!

I want a poster or something to fill the space above his little info chalkboard but I don’t have the funds at the moment. I still think this is really cute! I just have the one T right now so he gets all the loving. Next to the Stephen King shelf kinda makes a cool vibe (even though I don’t personally think spiders are scary lol and probably no one on this sub does) Anyway I just wanted to share!

Moved into a new apartment with a bigger bedroom so I get to fully display my Stephen King books!!

My collection is growing, don’t worry. I’ve read more books than this but I didn’t collect when I was a teenager, I would just read and get rid lol. I don’t have any other merch besides the poster so the stuff on the shelves is just random things. It’s next to the shelf with my tarantula on it so that could be fitting I guess. Anyways, just wanted to share! I see some amazing shelves on this sub and mine doesn’t even COMPARE to most but I’m happy with it.

Good quality shoe store

I walk about 15 miles a day four days a week for work and I need new shoes. My hometown had this amazing shoe store who would fit you and give you personal attention. I really need an expert to tell me what shoes I need. Anywhere around here?

UPDATE ON MY POST YESTERDAY! Giant Cave roaches Zoo welfare concern

You can go to my profile to see my original post but TLDR; I work at a zoo and our Giant Cave Roaches are in poor conditions and even though I’m just a janitor, I’m trying to help

UPDATE: I talked to a supervisor who told me to talk to someone else who told me to talk to someone else 😅 I finally talked to one of our animal care supervisors. He listened to me and I made sure to mention that I’ve never kept this specific roach species so I wanted to talk to someone if these conditions were okay. He didn’t really give any excuse or acknowledge if it was poor living conditions or not, I think he doesn’t know much about the roaches like it’s not his department or something. He took my name and told me he’d bring it up with THE animal care supervisor, like the one who has her own office on the top floor of the building. And remember, I’m basically a janitor here so this is scary for me and I’m trying to be brave. Anyways, I came in this morning and saw that the jelly had been replaced with fresh crystals and it shows how bad it was because of the color difference. I attached a photo so everyone can be appalled by the color difference. Also Im not sure if this was in purpose, but the enclosure was rearranged in a way that made the food bowl really hard to see unless you’re looking at a weird angle. I don’t know, maybe that’s me just being paranoid. But I’m glad me bringing it up made some kind of difference, but I don’t want to stop here because the other issues I brought up are still concerning.
Any more advice from people who have personally kept this species would be great!
