I'm doing color work socks and there's not that many places around me that sell sock yarn and and ones that do are sports weight instead of fingering weight but I found one brand that I like and it only has like 12 colors
so I was just planning on dying the white yarn to any color I need but I was wondering do I need to take it apart and use a Niddy Noddy or should I use one of those like hat knitting machines that I have to just knit one big tube and dye it like that
Or can I just dye it in the ball it already comes in I'm just worried if I do that it'd be hard to wash all the dying c out and make sure it's evenly spread
And I know you have to boil water to dye stuff but the yarn says to use cold water and low heat so any tips on that one also be good
The white one looks so messy on the top compared to the blue one and they're both winded on the same machine and yes I know that it doesn't affect how it works I just want to look nice
The pizza one I frogged cuz it didn't fit right cuz
I made the sock already I posted asking why It was too tight and people gave me advice so I took it apart and decided to remake it but I don't want to have to buy new white yarn when I already have some
My white yarn has four strands and the other colors have six strands it's a pizza sock color work so the white would be for the ribbing, toe and the heel
Originally I used a 2.5 mm for the whole thing even though the pattern called for me going down to a 2.25 for the ribbing toe and heel I just thought it would be too tight cuz the other yarn was thicker
My thought is is that if I do go down the yarn still is thinner so it might feel weird to feel the different thicknesses on my heel and on the bottom of my foot but if I double it up it might be too thick
I just like your advice to see if you guys have any tips and I posted about the pizza sock being tight around the heel if you want to take a look at my page to take a look to see what I'm talking about
Everywhere else in the sock fits great it's just that spot right there is just a little too tight the only way I could think to fix this is to knit the floats looser when joining back in after the heel
I do understand I'm making it worse by pulling on it but it does it when i put the sock on cuz I had to pull it to put it on and I can fix it while it's on my foot, I just want to know if there is a way where I just don't have to fiddle with it when I put it on
Or is this just what happens when you make checkered color work socks because all of the floats are even so it's easier to pull apart
If this is just what happens with color work checkered socks then it's fine it's not that big a deal
