Top row is in the loop, bottom is into the preamp. Amp is an Orange OR15. Had the Death by Audio Germanium Filter for a few weeks and it is GNARLY.
Need some help boosting the output signal of a pedal I'm trying to build. Gain stage is a tl072 opamp gain stage from a Proco rat. The tone stack following the clipping diodes is a marshal/tmb circuit. Initially I had a simple output buffer following the tone stack but noticed that output volume is significantly lower than it should be and I've learned that the Marshall tone stack s typically the cause.
I have tried a few output gain stages but I'm struggling to get a good boost of the signal. Currently I am using a 2n3904 but not getting any boost (output circuit is exactly like the one in the photo). I'm hoping someone can point me towards how those circuits work and how I can tailor the circuit for more gain, or give some suggestions for a better output boost circuit.
Finished the prototype of this beaut today and I'm pretty happy with it so far. Gain stage from a Proco Rat with led clipping diodes and a tl072 opamp, 3 band eq from the Marshall guvnor pedal, and a buffered output. Final pedal I'm planning to add switchable clipping diodes and switchable buffered/true bypass as well as some slight tweaks to the eq. And also remove the superfluous opamp and clean up the circuit.
Based on this circuit is the led being used as a clipping diode? Pedal sounds like ass and the only thing I've changed from the circuit is the led
