how would you go about recreating this giant rose lamp?

does not need to be extremely practical as this is for a one day film shoot. i'm thinking getting a normal plain floor lamp, foam thorns (skipping the leaves), spray paint this dark green-

i'm just worried about the rose part- if i do foam i feel like the light might not come through all the way... i can only assume shaping fabric petals using mod podge but i'd love other thoughts

shows w rainforest / jungle vibes

like the place, not the genre, although if the shoe fits i certainly won't mind

would it be evil to recuse myself as a screener to submit my own film?

see above. i'd feel like an asshole, and on one hand, i do think i have a good chance at this fest- but i'd have a better chance if i, you know, wasn't also a screener prior to asking about this. i mainly don't wanna make the team hate me, but it's a small fest (60+ submissions so far) and i don't know if they'd miss me, or if there'd be a way to do this without me not being a screener, or if because i've already seen and rated films they'd say no... etc

how???

trying to rip off this gradient animated bg from cargo and can't find any tutorials on it at all- just animations to move the gradient tile itself up and down. i bet there's some js but that's not what i know so i'm coming here first.

this would also probably be easy to do with hue shifting but i know that's not what it is and because of that am intent on finding out what it is.

screener leaving reviews on letterboxd

i submitted to a small genre festival and have been, for what i thought was no real reason, excessively checking to see who logged my next thing on letterboxd. it's been like the same group of friends for the past year and i just checked and it's this guy i don't recognize. first i was like huh weird, then saw he left a review: "watched for (festival) 2026 judging".

i was like ok this is weird. i went to his profile and saw 1) he is doing this for every film he's screening 2) he's liking some movies and not others 3) he's ADDING MOVIES to the lb database in order to log them (edit: to say he watched them while judging this fest)

i don't know what to do? it's a small festival so they probably know about this and don't give a fuck but i'm definitely creeped out by it and feel weird that it's out there at all. i wanna say something but my friend who is a screener is telling me i shouldn't
