Not happy with Excelsis Dei (s2 e11) - advice?

This is my first watch so no spoilers please!

I just watched S2E11 and really did not enjoy it. The plot was obviously convoluted and there were some racist stereotypes on par with the show so far, but my main issue was with the treatment of rape. I know this was made in the 90s but honestly. I really did not appreciate Mulder’s dismissive attitude, particularly as he almost always believes the victims in cases more fantastical than this. It didn’t make sense to me. I would contrast it to Shadows (S1E6) where Mulder suggests that a poltergeist is being violent to defend a woman - so why won’t he believe one is violently attacking a woman?

Obviously I’m prepared for generally mildly sexist writing but I don’t really want to watch more where Mulder behaves like that. Is this a blip, or does he start to be more skeptical of victims stories? This is my bedtime and comfort show atm so if that’s the direction they take it in that’s fine but I’m not really interested in watching.

If it is a blip in characterisation then that’s chill, I’ll keep watching and just not rewatch this episode. But even so, can anyone please warn me about any other episodes with badly treated rape plotlines? I may want to avoid them so it would be helpful to know in advance. Thanks!

Can I turn AI summaries off on my videos?

I've just noticed that on my latest video, there is an AI summary of the video's content in the caption. It's not completely inaccurate, but it does completely miss the point of the video, and makes it sound like a philosophical discussion rather than a comedy edit.

I know you can't turn off AI summaries from the viewer end (I tried, and researched), but can I remove it from a video I've published? I don't want viewers to be getting the wrong idea about my video before they've even started watching it (nevermind my ethical problems with generative AI).

Is there a way to see average percentage viewed against time?

I shared a video a couple days ago that's doing better than usual generally, but my retention is not great and I realised on a rewatch that it really needed tightening in the middle, so I cut some stuff out in the YouTube editor.

I'd like to know if that change affects my retention in real time, but I can only seem to find ways to do average view duration plotted against time since release, which is not useful to me. I'd like to see average percentage viewed against time since release - does anyone know how to do that?

Seeing so many interviews where he's asked if he wants to go to space prompted me to make this. Don't send him guys!

(whoops meant preventative)

This is something I don’t understand. From what I’ve heard, people with ADHD are more likely to develop anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. We’re more likely to go to prison. More likely to die by suicide. Probably more likely to procrastinate seeking medical care for serious conditions. More likely to engage in risky behaviour that leaves us injured.

Why isn’t diagnosing and treating ADHD priority number one for the government and NHS if treating it could prevent some of this? Why instead are diagnostic services shutting down and people in government constantly claiming its fake or overdiagnosed? Why are there so many hoops for people to jump through to get treated? Surely it must cost the country way more in the long run to leave people untreated and at risk. I genuinely don’t get it!

I've not been doing too hot recently, and today the first thing I did upon opening the app was try the depression quiz (I've never been diagnosed with a mental health problem or had therapy so even considering that something might be up was a big step for me).

At the end it told me I had moderately severe depressive symptoms and that I should speak to a professional (I'm okay, I'm gonna look into support and I have people around me to talk to, I'm not looking for comfort from comments or anything!).

The funny part was that the 20 energy I got from doing the quiz sent my bird on her adventure, so the screen exploded with confetti as soon as I finished the quiz! It was so absurd to get that after being told that I might have depression that it got big laugh out of me.

Props to Finch for being silly enough to cheer me up a tiny bit :)

I had a thought today that a fun way to try out new audio dramas (specifically fictional radio station ones) would be to get a bunch of individual episodes from different podcasts, and listen to them together. The idea is to give the impression that you’re trying to listen to the radio, but these weird broadcasts keep on slipping in, seemingly from other worlds, so you’re just getting snippets of insight into all these strange places.

To that end, I put together a Spotify playlist with as many fictional radio podcasts as I could find. I also slipped in some short radio static sounds to add to the ambience: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/21Xi15SXVA1lMSchfm4jq0
I’ve already tried listening to it on shuffle and it is a fun experience!

If you have any further suggestions, please let me know and I can add them! I mostly just put the pilot episodes (with a couple of exceptions), but if you know a podcast well and think a different episode would fit the bill better please let me know and I’ll swap it out.

The only requirement for a show to be on the list is that listening is like listening to the radio (so it shouldn’t just be about a radio host, and it shouldn’t be a fictional podcast). Types of audio drama that fit would be:

- A standard episodic show about a fictional radio station, (eg Nightvale)

- A companion show to another podcast, consisting of just a radio show set in that world (eg Desert Skies FM)

- A found footage show consisting solely of radio transmissions

- A singular episode of another show or anthology that happens to be told through a radio transmission

Any genre is allowed - currently it includes fantasy, contemporary, scifi, horror, paranormal and more, and it ranges from lighthearted comedy to darker stuff.

I will note that I’ve only properly listened to three of the podcasts so I can’t vouch for the content in any of them!

I hope someone else enjoys it :)
