AITA I don’t think I support the move away from Regents

Been a social studies teacher for 10 years. I have been thinking about this move away from regents and to be frank…I worry about it.

Reading the newsletter about the move and I simply can’t see how Portrait of a Graduate is anything but a lowering of expectations and standards. I’m not saying testing is the only way but I do feel that testing is a real measure of knowledge for the most part. I fear this will lead to devaluing academics.

Are my fears unfounded? Am I an asshole for not really believing in this new pathway?

Patmos Question

Hello

Spending a week in Patmos and are planning on hiking around the island from our base in Skala. We have spent time on islands other years and decided on Patmos this year.

How hikeable are beaches like Psili Amos and others. Also, how accessible are beaches that are not going to be filled up.

We also plan on visiting the religious sites. I grew up Orthodox so I am excited about those too.

Also food recommendations are always good.

I speak Greek well if this helps!

Fake? Lots of red flags

Have had this one for a while and always been suspicious. Obviously the nib is a huge red flag and the push cap. Font on the cap looks weird. White star on the cap looks wrong too. It was purchased sometime in the 90s is my understanding. Ironically the nibs flex is very fun to use

What’s going on here? For sure a fake right?

Stationary in Athens?

Will be in Athens Greece and was hoping to find sole made in Greece paper and if possible pen or pencils.

I speak Greek fluently so it won’t be an issue. Also know the littler stationary kiosks at print and mail shop but I’m looking for something a bit more upscale.

Appreciate it!!!

Graduating and Cert question

Graduating from Brooklyn College teaching masters program in a week and a half. I have completed all my exams and workshops. Should I just go ahead and pay and apply for the cert now or should I wait til after graduation?

My advisor has been absolutely useless and the certification coordinator takes a month at a time to respond.
