Is this a weird request? Why is it hard to find a PI?

A lawyer in Los Angeles is having a hard time finding a PI to hire & I’m wondering if the ask is weird or suspicious in some way. The lawyer is seasoned (30+ years) with a good record that the PIs can easily verify so I don’t think it has anything to do with that.

My understanding is that three people need to be served simultaneously or as close to simultaneously as possible to avoid one calling & warning the others. There’s various information about each e.g., home address for one, work address for another; approximate work schedule for two, but nothing for one. And one travels a lot to WA. The firm wants someone to “stakeout” or whatever the 3 people to get a general idea of their weekly schedules. Ideally someone would say - they’re all home on Wednesdays by 4pm, or they all leave work on Mondays between 5 & 5:30 - whatever and service could be scheduled at a strategic time & place(s).

One attorney went to a PI’s office, check book in hand & they hemmed & hawed & acted like they didn’t want the business. They weren’t the only ones either.

Isn’t following people around part of what PIs do? A well placed phone call trying to schedule a meeting or something might get the answers easily as well. It might not be easy money, but it doesn’t sound like hard money. What’s the problem?

And where should one find reputable PIs? They’ve just been using google I think.

Oh crap, is that a gun!?

So something almost happened and I’m wondering what the potential legal consequences could’ve been if had played out the way it could’ve & what the solution would’ve been.

Say a friend’s(A) relative (B) passes away in FL. C lives in MD & offers to drive A to MD from FL with B’s stuff. Packing & everything is rushed, chaotic & full of grief & emotions. A throws away some things of monetary value indiscriminately but keeps a 30 yr old pot holder. Truck loads are donated to charity. B was an undercover hoarder. Everyone is exhausted and at some people just start throwing things in C’s car.

There’s a backpack. No one ever sees A or C with the back pack. D puts the backpack in C’s car. A & C drive to MD & unload most of the car. C continues to OH to drop off items to B’s family there. After the car is empty C notices a backpack & takes it inside. C calls A about the backpack. A doesn’t know anything about it or whatever is in it but tells C to keep it or throw it in the trash.

Months later C opens the backpack & can you guess from the title what was amongst the things in the bag? A 50 year old gun. Likely legally bought in, and later brought from, CA.

What’s supposed to happen here? This hypo has the makings of a great law school question. If this had played out like this - the gun would’ve been transported across multiple state lines. Ownership was “transferred” but not legally or officially. I can even imagine C as an unwilling participant (didn’t put the bag in the car, didn’t know the gun was there, it was just left), especially if C calls A and A refuses to accept it. “You should’ve thrown it in the trash.” So now C has someone else’s gun and presumably no one wants it or knows what to do with it.

I would think the easiest thing would be to turn it over to the police but that could open a whole nother can of worms. And A is B’s only heir so I think technically it belongs to A. Guns can’t just be inherited by possession can they? Is A supposed to open probate in FL to get title? No way A has capacity to go to back to FL & even so, surely it’s illegal to knowingly transfer guns across state lines, or no?

I just wanted to know if this woulda happened, what shoulda happened next?

Best way to protect decking?

Hey all. I have a two part question. Newly installed decking sits directly below the only window for the air conditioning.

  1. Is a water proofing sealer or stain the absolute best for this situation or is there something better? I know seal works well for regular rain/weather but water potentially dropping 24/7 during these frequent heatwaves might be a little different. Right?

  2. Best temporary solution until the answer to #1 is done? Cover it in plastic? Will that create a breeding ground for something undervthe plastic? Is this even something to worry about of it takes a couple of weeks to implement a long term solution? Thanks

Why play teams/squads to be alone?

Someone please explain this to me. I’m back to playing after forced rehab. I usually play Blitz or Reload when BR seems too long.

Whatever I’m playing I notice that on teams people often run off on their own. Often to fight & die alone - sometimes repeatedly. I’m not the best player but I’m inclined to meet & load up BEFORE going to war. In Blitz I started playing on teams of 6 just to get 3-4 people that would play like a team.

Am I the weirdo here? Why do people select team & then run off by themselves? Why aren’t people naturally inclined to meet up & journey together?

Best/favorite device to play on?

TLDR; I’m curious about people’s experiences with different devices.

For a perfectly justified splurge I am considering buying a device for the primary or sole purpose of playing Fortnite. I’ve only ever played on an iPad which cumbersome at best & probably not optimal. It’s often hard to aim & to see from the right perspective. I don’t know if that is about the FN experience or if it’s my device.

I recently saw an ad for a Switch. I travel a lot so something light & portable would be nice. Does this device provide a good playing experience?

Are the screens big enough to navigate well? Can older eyes see well?

Does anyone play on their phone & have a good experience? I’d have to get another phone but again, will the screen be big enough & is it easy to navigate?

I got the first Wii probably ever made & I‘ve only used it for Zumba. I still have my Nintendo & I LOVE Yoshi. Other than that my video game is limited.

I’m curious about the best gaming experience but I’m also interested in portability. Oh, and I‘m also a little curious about a device to play Call of Duty or the next GTA because of other similarly aged people I know that play. Does that mean multiple devices?

Edit - I’m a Mac & I don’t think it’s compatible. Is the experience so much better on a PC that it would be worth it to buy a low level or used PC?
