I’m a little disappointed with my proposal

Want to preface that I have OCD and tried to manage my expectations leading up to this moment that nothing was going to be perfect

I’ve been with my partner (I hate the word fiancé) for almost 8 years. We had talked about marriage and engagements and all that extensively. I ended up designing my own ring (he wanted me to) since I am so particular. I absolutely adore the ring and am so happy with it.

When discussing proposals etc I really only wanted a few things: 1) I wanted it to be private. Just us and a photographer. I didn’t want family or friends hiding. I didn’t want an audience. 2) I wanted a pretty background. 3) I didn’t want a surprise party after.

It was really important to me that the engagement felt intimate. Well he proposed last night. We were on a mini vacation getaway with some of his family members (mom, brother, grandparents) and he decided to propose on our last night there. The house had a private beach and he hired a photographer. That was all great. But his family was hiding in the house inside. And his mom obviously took candid photos (that I hated the way I looked in) and sent them to my mom and my mom posted them before i even got to post anything.

I also found out that he waited to tell my family (who all live in another state) until morning of. I don’t mind that, especially because him and I both know my mom isn’t good at keeping a secret. But now my family is making it my problem and making me feel bad that they weren’t there. Which i didn’t want my family there to begin with, nor his family either. His mom also took it upon herself to invite her sister and brother in law (my partner was not aware until they showed up). And then they brought us out to dinner at a not so good restaurant. I really just wanted to soak it all in just the two of us.

I feel so ungrateful for being disappointed. I honestly wasn’t that upset until my family started making me feel bad. I’m extremely overwhelmed. I know in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter. And I can plan an engagement party exactly how I want it.

I don’t know if I should communicate these feelings to him or if maybe how I feel over time will lessen or go away

Starting the Wegovy pill and nervous!!!

Hi everyone, I just got confirmation that my 1.5mg Wegovy pill has shipped out and I’m nervous to start taking it. I’m wondering people’s experiences etc.

I’m 5’1” and have always felt with some stubborn body fat. Last year I got a double mastectomy (brca 2+) and I have gained 25lbs (weighing in at almost 140lbs currently). I’ve been going to the gym, eating healthy, and I just can’t seem to get the weight off this time. I just bought new aritzia work pants in January (size 4) and I can barely even button them now. None of my clothes fit. I feel like the past 8 months I keep gaining weight. I have a TON of food noise and hard time having hunger cues when it comes to being full so I’m hopeful this will help. I was taking Prozac for three years and recently went off of it and surprisingly gained weight coming off.

Equinox vs Chelsea Piers?

Hi everyone, I live in Park Slope and have been a member of Harbor Fitness for 4 years but am feeling pretty unsatisfied with the gym/classes. It is in walking distance of my apartment but I really like spin/cycle classes and end up resorting to SoulCycle every so often. I’m exploring potentially joining Equinox or Chelsea Piers (Brooklyn Heights/DT Brooklyn) and am wondering if it’s worth it, especially for their spin classes?

I love SoulCycle for their themed rides but I also don’t need a theme as long as the music is good. Wanting to get opinions here especially since I’ve seen that people say the Brooklyn Heights Equinox is really run down compared to other locations. But it seems like their spin classes are a better fit for what I’m looking for.

Any insight would be appreciated!!
