Is there any strong nail polish I can ask for at the salon that’s NOT gel?

Gel/powder dip just ruins my nails, no matter how careful I am in removing it (or getting it removed). What are people doing for long-lasting looks that don’t involve baking the polish on?

Who’s Your Favorite Dentist?

I’m sure this had been asked/answered before but I’m at work and have very little time to dive into the archives. Tell me me who you like and why you like them please!🙏

Thoughts on Our Travel Plan?

Hello friends, we’re finally going to take a trip to Europe! It’s been a long time coming and we probably won’t be able to get back for another few years, so we want to make this count. Can you help us get the most out of it?

The Dates- September 1-17 2026

The Budget- We’re very frugal, but will splurge on the “can’t miss” things

The Starter Plan-

  1. Fly into Dublin-stay 3-4 days
  2. Ferry to Liverpool, day trip only
  3. Get to London (suggestions needed on the best way to do this)-stay 4-5 days
  4. Get to Amsterdam (transportation advice needed)-stay 2-4 days
  5. Get to Munich in time for Oktoberfest (transportation advice needed)
  6. Fly home (USA) from there

The Wish List-

We’d like to see one or two “must-see” tourist sites in each place, but also see “real life”. I’m not going to travel to London and NOT see Big Ben, for example, but we mostly want to see what life is like for regular people like us: meet locals, go to local pubs in local neighborhoods, and see how regular Europeans are doing life. We LOVE music, old architecture, beer, wine, hearty food and good conversation with interesting people.

I’m a city person who loves hustle and bustle, diverse communities, and urban vibes, my husband is into nature and wants to see the Alps and other beautiful places. We both want to ride bikes, walk, and take trains as much as possible.

But what iconic monument would you see in each place if you only saw one or two? Where to go get a drink that isn’t a tourist trap?

Any recommendations you have would be much appreciated. We’re so excited to finally make this trip happen.

Remember the paraffin wax craze?

What the hell was that all about anyway?

Edit: I meant the hand dip/ peel off craze that swept the country (or just middle-aged women) for awhile. Sorry for the confusion, but I love the journey this thread went on while trying to answer lol.

Spas for Guys?

My husband is a great person, relaxed and friendly and compassionate and comfortable in his own skin-except for outsourcing the more “intimate” self-care practices. We once got a foot massage at a resort and he laid there stiff as a board like he was about to be electrocuted. I want to treat him a pedicure and good haircut for Father’s Day but it can’t be at a typical salon or anyplace that’s too girly or zen. Is there a place where he can feel more at ease?
