I am at such a loss with reoccurring UTIs.

Hi all. I am at a complete loss. I feel like breaking down. I will go over my health history with UTIs.

I started being sexually active at 18, and since then I have had only one sexual partner. I have not gone longer than 1 year without having a UTI. I started taking (a brand that isn’t allowed to be said here) d-mannose supplements daily about two years ago, and the first year I was consistent with them was the year I did not get a UTI.

However this year, for some reason, they have stopped working so well. I have had 3 UTIs in the last 4 months, 4 this year. I just started feeling symptoms of one again this afternoon.

My partner and I are extremely careful with cleanliness. We both shower thoroughly before sex and I wash off after. I always pee immediately after sex. I consistently change underwear, try to sleep and wear loose fitting clothes. I started taking an additional d-mannose supplement with the other one to increase my intake. Everything.

Every possible thing that has been recommended online I do. Whenever I bring up concern with my primary doctor about something being abnormal he shrugs it off and says that women getting a few UTIs in a year isn’t abnormal. I am already resistant to one type of antibiotic they prescribe.

I don’t know what to do. I am so frustrated. I have an appointment with my gyno June 2 and hope she will have more ideas.

I would love any advice. I feel like I could cry. I don’t know what to do.
