Using lidocaine numbing cream

I’m going to use Emla (lidocaine 5%) cream for the first time today. I was going to put it on my upper lip area and lower lip area.

It says to squeeze it onto the area and then put cling film on the area. I have two questions

I’m taking public transport to my appointment so I’m going to wear a mask. Should I put cling film on my lip area? I don’t even know how I would do that tbh
Do I use my fingers to put it on and spread it slightly? And then wash immediately? Or should I use gloves or not touch it at all?

Can I use this before an appointment?

Can I use this for numbing before treatment? It has lidocaine 2% but also antiseptic cream so I wasn’t sure if that would be okay. I could probably go to the pharmacy and buy some lidocaine only before my appointment but just wanted to use up what I already have if possible

8 hours post session. I have had many sessions before but still working on the first clear of my face so first time treating this area. I do usually get swelling.
