Name for my Asian Mantis Baby
It’s too young to know the gender yet or have its adult colors but this is my new pet—a blue asian mantis (Hierodula sp. Papua). It needs a name!
*I already have a gecko named Blue

This is Winter! She’s a 10-month-old shelter pup who was labeled a “hound mix.” She’s about 26 lbs and seems to have reached her adult weight.
She has a red-ticked muzzle and chest, though her ears seem a little smaller than the average beagle’s. She’s a treat lover but grazes on her meals, rarely howls, is a major side-eyer, and is an all-around goof.
I’m thinking about doing a DNA test, but I wanted to hear what the beagle experts think first. Does she look like a full beagle or a mix?
* last pic is her first night home 🥰
Starting realll early this year. I love it. 🎃
Dusty (cat) and Winter (dog) have been besties since day one 🥰.

I left Starbucks a few months ago, almost immediately after finishing SCAP in (which took 3 1/2 years) and just started a new federal job. I’m honestly feeling really overwhelmed with how much there is to learn, and I miss the familiarity of Starbucks and having work friends.
The thing is… I know I was miserable there. I think I just miss feeling confident in my role while I’m still trying to settle into this new workplace. I keep reminding myself that our ASM constantly made the SSV team feel like our best was never good enough, nitpicked everything, and acted petty over the smallest things. I was physically reacting to the stress of going into work when I knew they would be there. And don’t even get me started on scheduling.
My new job seems like the kind of place where, once I learn my role, I’ll mostly be left alone to do my job, which sounds amazing and very different from Starbucks.
Please tell me your current Starbucks horror stories or reasons you want out so I can stop romanticizing it. I know I don’t actually miss it — I just need the reminder.
Starting CCA academy tomorrow and my shadow day kinda stressed me out. I’m not worried about academy but I am worried about reporting to my office. Looking for honest input from current/former CCAs.
Was told my office is fully staffed, so I’ll likely get sent to other offices—possibly far (like up to 100 miles). My car honestly can’t handle that. Is this actually common?
Hearing a lot about being basically “on call”—getting called in last minute or scheduled with barely any turnaround. I can handle long days, but I need actual days off. Is that realistic or no?
Sounds like I’ll constantly be on different routes. I learn fast with repetition, but not if I’m thrown somewhere new every day. How hard is that in reality?
Also heard there’s a lot of gossip and even people hooking up at the office. Not judging, just not interested. If I keep to myself and just work, is that going to make things harder socially?
What do most CCAs actually drive? Saw a ProMaster but LLVs seem easier.
Got kinda weird vibes from my postmaster—normal or red flag?
I deal with anxiety and tend to overthink, so I’m trying to figure out what’s real vs. worst-case scenarios.
Bottom line:
Is this job worth it starting out, or am I walking into something chaotic?
Also—how do you sign up for health benefits as a CCA?
I’ve been off of work for about 4 1/2 months after quitting Starbucks once receiving my degree. I worked there for about 3 years while taking advantage of the paid tuition benefit.
I got it done in 3 years rather than 4 because of the sheer agony I felt going in everyday once stepping into a supervisor role. I took extra classes each semester and took summer classes as well just to get out asap.
I am a people-pleaser and learned very quickly there, despite doing everything right—above and beyond actually, not everyone will be happy. In fact most people won’t be. I had a passive aggressive assistant manager who took all of their frustration out on supervisors, it was just a toxic environment so I left without anything lined up.
I thought my anxiety would go away when I quit. It didn’t. Instead I fixated on how I needed to find a job and appear productive. I felt like I was never doing or contributing enough.
Now, I have accepted a new job as a postal carrier and am having really anxious thoughts about how I will fail and everyone will hate me, or how as a new employee under a probation period, I will be working all the time and have no work-life balance again.
I am starting to realize maybe the anxiety isn’t situational and I have just been conditioned to anticipate everyone’s needs, whether at work or home, and accommodate and I just can’t do that for everyone. Knowing that doesn’t stop me from trying and being extremely upset when I can’t though.
I just want to stop feeling this way. I feel very trapped and like no matter what someone will be disappointed with me. I know it’s inevitable but I just want to stop being bothered by it and I don’t know how. It feels like the anxiety is about the job but it’s always about whatever is my current situation. Looking for advice.
