Will Fleming heaping praise on Pat Mcafee on air
Seemed like a weird tangent that the other Will was trying to get him off of. Coupled with the fact that McAfee was hanging with the president this evening. I thought Fleming’s Kirk eulogy during a game last year was a one time thing, but seems like he’s really going for it. Stick to baseball bud.
Over?
Tied the Yankees in the standings for a couple hours just to prove that we could, then went back to low energy, mistake-filled slop. What a turn of events.
The Surging Red Sox, Summer League Winners and Losers, and Lesson From Fanatics Fest With Kevin Hench, Howard Beck, and Michael Rubin
This umpire crew is extra saucy
The home plate ump doing the slow-mo punch out. The first base ump striking a one-legged pose for every standard groundout. What’s with these guys?
Podcast opening
The order of operations on the latest midnight boys HOTD episode is completely diabolical. It’s been this way for a while but this episode seemed especially egregious.
Starts with a couple generic pre-roll ads. Fine
Immediate cut to Van with “WELCOME to the Ringerverse” and the intros.
Then for some reason the intro music comes after the intros, and is immediately followed by Van reading an ad for an Amazon product that’s almost certain to spy on you (no hate, I realize these guys aren’t picking and choosing the advertisers).
Then the show actually starts. I’m not sure what kind of analytics Spotify’s got that shows this is the optimal way to do things. But it makes no sense to me.
Craig as a social experiment
Would anyone be shocked if they eventually revealed Craig was a plant put in place for a Nathan Fielder-style experiment? It’s like someone’s pressure testing how many public and private disasters he can withstand while still remaining employed. Pretty interesting from an anthropological standpoint, looking forward to the HBO miniseries whenever they release it.
Breggy
That contract is already an albatross for the cubs. Score one for Craig
