Books about terrorist organizations

I would like to understand how the biggest terrorist organizations began, how they rised and how they're still active today. How is that possible? Organizations like al Qaeda, ISIS, the Talibans, etc. So I'm looking for books on that. Any recs? Thanks

Estacionamento Alameda

Obrigado

Psychology book recs

I'm looking for psychology books that really changed your perspective, helped you in some ways or that you just found interesting. Particularly I'm looking for books that helped you have a more positive outlook on life and to be a better person for yourself and for others ( for example: how to not get angry so easily or how to not be so pessimistic, etc etc). Or books that are interesting because they explain the psychology behind things we do unconsciously or the way our brain works, for example. Thanks in advance!

Makeup tips for beginners

I'm 22 years old and I have no makeup products and I have no idea how to apply makeup. I felt the desire to start doing simple/natural makeup a long time ago, but not even knowing where to start always discouraged me. However, right now I'm committed to learn, starting with the basics. So I would like some recommendations: which products to buy (the names of the products and utensils), which brands you prefer, how to choose the products ( for example how can i know my exact foundation shade so I don't look like a clown) and maybe YouTube channels or TikTok accounts to help beginners. My desire is to learn how to do a natural makeup face and my deepest fear ( which has been also another reason for never really trying makeup before) is doing it all wrong and ending up looking like a clown. Thank you so much in advance!

*Next week ill be going to a makeup shop and i will buy everything, so if you do a list of everything to buy to start it would be helpful

Erasmus for 10 days?

When i was doing my Erasmus some people shared that they had done Erasmus before, but for ten days. In my university's mobility page there's nothing about that, the minimum there is 3 months, and for internships. Where can i find shorter mobility opportunities?

Summer books

Hey everyone! I am looking for books that have summer vibes. Maybe books that have the sea as background or whose narrative includes going to the beach or is set in the summer. Preferably literary or historical fiction.  Examples of books I feel that fit this description: Jamaica Kincaid’s books, the awakening by kate chopin, story of a new name by elena ferrante, the lost daughter by elena ferrante, the light years by elizabeth jane howard, island beneath the sea by Isabel allende, where the crawdads sing by delia owens, Thanks in advance

I am looking for a book with up to 300 pages. something non comercial, actually good, with either well constructed characters (literary fiction) or with a captivating plot ( sci fi, mistery, historical fiction), or both. I wouldnt mind reading an unique book, for example the stranger by albert camus was a short book that i found quite unique. thanks in advance!

Should I go to the last Erasmus party?

There's one last ESN party before I leave. On one hand, I like I should go so I don't regret missing it later, since it's the last one, the "goodbye" party.... Plus there have been ESN events I didn´t feel like attending, and ended up having a good time.

On the other hand, I feel like I've already mentally closed the erasmus chapter. Right now, all I want is to finish my remaining exams and go home.

When I imagine the party, I imagine myself greeting people I don't really like, making small talk with people I get along with but wouldn't really call friends, and generally forcing myself to be social. But i might be wrong.

Also, before coming on erasmus I promised myself I would push myself out of my comfort zone and go to every ESN event if i could.

So what do you think? would you go, or drop it? (btw, the party is paid)

Books about growing up near the sea/ in former colonies

I recently read three books of Jamaica Kincaid and really loved the raw writing and the context of the narrative: former colonies and their everyday life in an island. Does anyone know other books like this? Literary/ historical fiction, growing up poor in islands/near the sea, colonies or ex colonies... May not fulfill all of these characteristics, but I was really craving a genuine book about growing up poor in a island/ near the sea.

Thanks!

Books

Does anyone know where I can buy second hand books ( or new ones) in European Portuguese, in Trieste? I'm currently living here and I miss reading a physical book.

Also: does anyone know good books about the history of Trieste? Thanks!

Where to print documents

I am in Trieste and I need to print a label to ship a package. Does anyone know places with fair prices to print a single sheet of paper? Preferably near via Giulia or viale. Thanks

Too much time left

I have 2 months left of Erasmus and I don’t know how I will be able to take it. First two months here were amazing, I met a lot of people in the ESN events, it was fun to be always meeting new people. Now almost no one attends the events, and the ones that attend I already know, it’s not fun and I don’t feel the enthusiasm I used to. University here is very different to what I’m used to and I gave up on two classes to focus more on the three I think I have a better chance of passing, but it wasn’t an easy decision, and I feel like a loser. Even the classes I do have, I study little and lack motivation. I feel super lonely, even though I talk with some people occasionally, mostly at ESN events,  they are not true connections. Everyday feels the same, it is driving me crazy. I just want to go back home so badly and thinking there’s still two months left is so scary. To be here feels like a prison, feels like I have no way out. Plus there will be events in my hometown that I love and attend every year, and because I’m here I won’t be able to go. Also the world cup games are a big deal to me, I usually watch them with friends and family back home, and because I’m here I also won’t be able to.  Seeing people on Instagram who are also doing Erasmus here and having the best time of their lives is also quite sad.

Idk, I just wake up everyday feeling defeated and depressed. Just wanted to know if anyone is having/had a similar experience.

I'm visiting Auschwitz in a month and I'm interested in reading any non fiction books related to the topic, either on the camp itself, or the people that ruled the camp, or survivor's accounts. Any recommendations?
