What are some of the lyrics that are your favorites because of how Alex sings it?

As in, I don't necessarily mean that the lyrics themselves are great or have deep meaning, I'm more asking if there are lines that are satisfying to listen to because of the way Alex sings them / pronounces the words etc.

For me, it's gotta be "devising methods to both have and eat your cake, mmm, just like the ones that mother nature used to bake" or "the confidence is the balaclava, I'm sure you'll baffle 'em good".

I'm curious to hear your favorites!

The way and the pace at which they speak got on my nerves this season.

Finished season 4 yesterday and I noticed that most of them just don't use indicative mood. They're always speaking in passive sentences. Like "your time was spent elsewhere" and all that. It's almost like they're trying to avoid actively confronting the other person, so they use this kind of language so that it doesn't feel as though they're attacking their partner.

Also, why do they all talk so slowly? It feels like forever until they manage to say what they want. At times I watched it at 1,25 speed, sometimes 1,5 and that felt like normal speech tempo.

I associate certain words with foods or facial expressions

Hello,

I don't know if this is the right subreddit but I didn't have any other clue as to where to post this.

Sometimes I hear words or say them out loud and I immediately associate them with another word. Like they sound like that other word. Or sometimes I see a facial expression with it. Like if someone says cream, I imagine someone with a raised eyebrow. Or if I hear the word "fire", I can see someone articulating this word in az exaggerated way, mouth wide open.

There are some food-related ones, too:

fantasy = I imagine sour juice

mogul = chestnut

time = pineapple

forth = foam

food = kibble

I could go on and on, but basically, I say words out loud and I can see them. It doesn't happen with every word I say, but words with a more significant sound give me these thoughts.

Does anyone have similar experiences? It's also important to note that I don't always associate words with foods. Like my username, Myranda, for me, that name sounds like wax that comes from a candle.

My thoughts after finishing the show

So I know I'm super late to the party.

Just a couple of things that caught my attention:

  1. Are you telling me that Gandía didn't know how to free himself from handcuffs? Didn't they say he used to participate in many secret missions? (I don't remember the context but they do mention this.) It would just make sense to me that if the government sends him on secret missions, then he knows the basics of freeing himself if it came to that. Why was Palermo the one to tell him how to free himself from a handcuff?

  2. And yeah, what about Palermo? I've seen some debate on whether or not he was the main cause of Nairobi's death since he was the one to basically set Gandía free, and I agree, but more importantly, he was so freaking unreliable throughout most of the second heist. Constantly disobeying orders, being up in everyone's business and creating tension... Funnily enough, he was one of my favorite characters because he was so complex and unpredictable. But everyone just forgave him for everything? Especially Helsinki who lost his best friend (Nairobi) because of Palermo, but it is heavily implied that they are together? (Are they? Because from their scenes it looks like they are - when he talks about how he's not gonna lose Palermo. Or when Helsinki looks like he's about to die and Palermo says he's gonna take him out to dinner every night or something like that once they finish with the heist. Or maybe I'm just a huge Palermo&Helsinki shipper haha)

  3. And speaking of forgiving people, what about Alicia? She was cruel. She tortured Rio, and she would've tortured every one of them if she had the chance. We also see her gulping down gallons of coffee and smoking during her pregnancy. When we find out her husband died, that's a point where we can feel some sympathy towards her, but... if she hadn't given birth with the help of the Professor, she would've probably killed him, turned him in, etc... Alicia and Sergio's "wholesome moments" just didn't sit right with me. Like when she leans on Sergio's shoulders and cries. I understand why that happens, she's just given birth and all that, she's probably freaking exhausted, but she shot that man in the foot and tied him up. Not to mention in the last episode, when they get off the plane and reunite... Rio and Alicia in the same scene is unsettling. I mean, as Rio, wouldn't you have some sort of reaction to the major trauma you endured because of Alicia?

  4. Denver... I don't even know where to begin. I should say Denver and Mónica. Maybe I'm crazy but I found Mónica's reaction to Denver beating Arturo up a little sad. I mean, Arturo rubbed himself against you without your consent and probably would've done much worse if you weren't in a position to be able to protect yourself, and your reaction is to break up with your husband because he is too violent? But I also get it, I really do, since Denver is impulsive and that's probably not something you want your kid to mimic later on.

Furthermore, where did this Manila drama came from? I never got the impression that he was into Manila, then he suddenly is, he kisses her and tells her he was thinking about her while being with his wife and kid? I'm saying this becuase I don't remember any mention of Manila before the second heist. Nothing like "yeah I miss my best friend so much, we used to party a lot and I wish we could do the same every now and then". It just feels like the writers retconned the whole thing. Denver seemed so in love with Mónica, he never seemed like the type to pine for somebody else.

  1. Arturo... I hated him when we were first introduced to his character. But did they really have to make him a rapist? Same with Berlin although I know how many people love his character, but I just can't. It's just... I don't know why they had to include so many scenes about sexual assault and inappropriate advances. It's in the show even from the beginning.

Tokyo who is in her thirties if I remember correctly, forcibly kisses Alison who is like 16 at the time. I get that the point of that scene is that Tokyo is jealous and wants to show dominance in a way, but there were so many other ways she could've done that. Why this? Not to mention Rio also looks at Alison while she is changing. He doesn't go further than that, but it's so inappropriate. Then Berlin and Ariadna... that woman literally throws up in the bathroom every time Berlin rapes her. Once Berlin finds out, he still doesn't stop. Also, Denver and Mónica's relationship begs the question of "was it entirely consensual?" because of the power dynamic. Then the aforementioned Arturo scenes. I hated how they brought in another rape storyline. We didn't need that. If Arturo hadn't raped Amanda, the story would've stayed the exact same. And it's even worse that later on, it's Arturo that leads the escape of Amanda and the others. So not only was Amanda assaulted by him, she also is now counting on her assaulter to save them.

  1. Raquel's backstory is one of the saddest. Her husband beat her, then her sister got with her husband... her colleagues mock her becuase of this in season 1. Sorry, but no wonder she turns on the police... But also, her life after the first heist... there are so many questionable moments between her and Sergio where Sergio is so degrading to her. I was the biggest Raquel&Sergio shipper until I saw the later seasons. Also, her mother is sick which rubs salt into the wound. I don't think she ever really got a happy ending. And what about how the first time Sergio said "I love you" to her and asked her to marry him both happened over the phone? I know it was a high stake situation, but it's wild Sergio never got around to say those things even after living together for a while and even after Raquel left her whole life behind for him.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts. I know it's a little long but I would like to hear your perspectives. I love this show so much, but I love finding little inconsistencies haha.

Did they change "praised be" to "praise be"?

I have been wondering about this for a while. I tried searching on Google but it doesn't say anything. I could've sworn they were saying "praised be" at the beginning of the series but then changed it to "praise be". It's like they changed it from one episode to the next.

Anyway, not that it's important, but I've noticed it. Or do they say it both ways?

What would've happened if Rachel and Ross went to Greece together?

I'm just really wondering what would've happened if Rachel and Ross actually went to Greece - to the honeymoon of Ross and Emily.

I think it was wildly inappropriate of Ross to suggest that, and Rachel to accept it.

Rachel might have gone into the whole trip with the hopes of something happening between them (or maybe just really wanted a nice free trip but I think that's less likely or not her main motive). She was still very much in love with Ross, so much so that she was willing to fly out to Ross and Emily's wedding and possibly stop it to tell him she loved him. With Emily not showing up to the airport (she did but Rachel had no idea), Rachel might've thought that this was her chance to win him back.

Ross, I don't think he was in the headspace of wanting to get back together with Rachel, he wanted Emily at that point, so I don't see him actually initiating anything in Greece, or if Rachel did, he might've turned her down. But he did suggest he and Rachel take a vacation together.

What do you guys think?
