First time colorgrading, any advice?

I shot this with a Lumix S5 and Helios 44-2 lens, using 4K 10bit (colorgraded on Davinci Resolve)

I was aiming for a city symphony kind of look, so I’d really appreciate any feedback or advice.

Thanks!

Using Sirui 35mm 1.33x S35 anamorphic on Lumix S5 full-frame 4K — how much crop for vignetting?

Hi everyone,

I’m thinking about using the Sirui 35mm 1.33x anamorphic lens for Super 35 on my Lumix S5.

I know this lens is designed for S35 coverage, not full frame, but I’m curious if anyone has actually tested it on the S5 or a similar full-frame Lumix body.

My intended setup would be:

  • Camera: Lumix S5
  • Mode: 4K full-frame 16:9
  • Lens: Sirui 35mm 1.33x anamorphic S35
  • Final workflow: 1.33x desqueeze in post
  • Goal: keep the 2.35:1-ish anamorphic frame, but crop just enough to remove hard vignetting

My main question is:

How much do you usually need to crop/scale in post to remove the vignetting?

For example, is it closer to:

  • 1.10x scale / around 10% crop?
  • 1.20x scale?
  • 1.30x or more?
  • Or does it basically require APS-C/S35 crop mode to look clean?

I’ve seen some comments saying that certain Sirui S35 1.33x lenses can be used on full-frame with only mild vignetting, but I’m not sure specifically about the 35mm on the Lumix S5 full-frame 4K mode.

Also, if anyone has sample footage, screenshots, frame grabs, or YouTube links showing the vignette before/after desqueeze and crop, that would be super helpful.

Thanks!
