Colorado is working to keep people fed, but we can’t do this alone.

Taking food assistance away from children, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and Coloradans experiencing homelessness is cruel. More than 33,000 Coloradans, including nearly 12,600 children, have already lost access to SNAP, not because hunger has disappeared, but because Washington made it harder to get help. Colorado is working hard to protect food access, but no state can make up for the largest SNAP cut in American history, and Congress must reverse these harmful cuts.

Flash flooding in Beulah claims one life following heavy rain over the Aspen Acres burn scar

My heart is with the Beulah community and the family of the person who lost their life in Sunday’s devastating flooding.

Heavy rain over the Aspen Acres burn scar sent fast-moving water through the area, creating dangerous conditions. Please take flooding and burn-scar warnings seriously and never attempt to drive or walk through moving water, and check the National Weather Service for alerts and warnings in your area.

As we continue supporting the Beulah community, I also encourage Coloradans in flood-prone areas or near fire burn scars to consider purchasing flood insurance. Homeowners and renters insurance typically does not cover flood damage.

What do teachers think about school districts building affordable housing for their staff?

A new Marketplace story looks at school districts across the country that are trying creative approaches to help teachers and school staff find housing they can afford.

In Colorado, the HOME Act gives school districts more flexibility to build housing on land they own.

I’m curious what teachers think: Would affordable housing through your school district actually help with recruitment and retention, or would you rather see resources focused elsewhere, like higher salaries?

Interested in hearing from educators who have experienced the housing affordability issue firsthand.

Protecting 674 acres near Pikes Peak for generations to come

A new chapter for outdoor recreation near Pikes Peak.

Palmer Land Conservancy has acquired 674 acres at Pinestone Ranch near Woodland Park, protecting forests, meadows, and wildlife habitat for future generations.

This is the kind of partnership that can help connect more Coloradans with the outdoors while protecting the places that make our state special. There’s incredible potential here, and we’re excited to see what comes next.

New Colorado rideshare safety protections are now in effect

Starting this week, Colorado riders have new safety protections when using rideshare services.

Under a law I signed earlier this year, rideshare companies are now required to investigate safety complaints within seven business days, including complaints involving sexual assault, harassment and stalking. Companies that fail to meet the requirements can face penalties.

The goal is straightforward: Coloradans should be able to get where they need to go safely, and when someone raises a serious safety concern, it should be addressed promptly.

Colorado’s smoky skies are a reminder to check air quality and look out for our neighbors

If you’ve looked outside and wondered where the mountains went… you’re not alone. Wildfire smoke can impact our skies and air quality, even when fires aren’t right outside our communities. Stay informed, check local air quality, and take care of yourself and your neighbors.

Colorado's e-bike rebate program is back — eligible residents can save at least $1,000 on a qualifying e-bike

Getting around Colorado just got more affordable! At Wheat Ridge Cyclery, I was proud to celebrate the relaunch of our e-bike rebate, which helps income-qualified Coloradans who are selected for a rebate save at least $1,000 upfront on a qualifying new e-bike at participating retailers. E-bikes are a fun, healthy way to commute, run errands, save money, reduce traffic and pollution, and support local bike shops across our state.

Fake peaches? Not in Colorado. 🍑

Coloradans deserve to know that when they buy produce labeled "Colorado-grown," it's actually grown here. Our bipartisan law protects consumers, supports local farmers, and preserves the integrity of the Colorado Proud brand.

Colorado’s aerospace companies are the industry-leading innovators that are helping us get back to the moon. It was an honor to join the amazing Artemis II crew at Red Rocks and congratulate them on a historic achievement.
