Gov’t Mule rocked the house at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL. Phenomenal sound as usual at this venue. They were jam heavy compared to many of the shows I’ve seen from them. Everyone in the band is just world class.

Ziggy Marley was awesome last night in Hollywood, FL. Great songs, tight band, some awesome covers from his dad’s catalog. Sound was phenomenal in the venue like usual.

Nugs integration

Going to ask this again. Anyone have any idea when Roon and Nugs are going to upgrade their integration to allow saving shows and tracks from Nugs as favorites or add to playlists in Roon? Supposedly this is coming but trying to find out when as it makes using Nugs in Roon very limited.

Shoutout to Souljam

A Florida jam band from the Treasure Coast, caught them for a rare southern appearance at Crazy Uncle Mike’s last night. Very fun band. Southern rock based jam with some nice originals and covers from ABB, Panic, Grateful Dead, and a cool cover of the Police’s Driven to Tears. Would definitely recommend if they’re near you. Would see again for sure.

Cory Wong/Joshua Redman

Stumbled onto the YouTube video of this concert and holy moly, this is some deep jazz-funk fusion with monster players. This is must watch and listen to. I can only hope this collaborationist end here.

Nugs favorites and playlists

Anyone have any idea when Roon is going to add the ability to save favorites and add songs to playlists? Major limitation until they add those.

How would you describe the essential elements of the bands you like?

I’ve finally figured out what my “signature” music taste is, and I’m curious how others would describe theirs.

For me, it’s not really about genres. It’s about a very specific combination of elements:

Deep pocket groove—especially funk, reggae, jazz, and New Orleans influences.

Guitar-forward music with players who can really stretch out.

Songs that serve as a launching pad for improvisation rather than just being faithfully reproduced live.

Dynamic builds that eventually peak with soaring, melodic guitar solos.

Bands that sound like they’re listening to each other in real time instead of following a script.

Strong musicianship is non-negotiable. Great songs are a bonus, but chemistry and improvisation matter even more.

My sweet spot ends up being jam bands that lean funky, jazzy, soulful, or rootsy rather than bluegrassy or psychedelic for the sake of psychedelia. Think more groove than noodling.

Some bands that really hit that spot for me:
Allman Brothers Band (my gold standard)
Goose
Little Feat
Big Something
Eggy
The Revivalists
Steel Pulse
Robert Randolph
Marcus King
Phish

Steel Pulse Rocks

First saw them win the late ‘80’s. My favorite live reggae band ever. Hadn’t seen them in a very long time. Saw them last night again and they still kill it. Amazing show. If you have any doubts if you should see them just go. The Original Wailers with Al Anderson opened and were very enjoyable as well, but Steel Pulse is on another level entirely.

Longtime reggae fan. Love OG roots bands - Marley, Third World, Steel Pulse, Black Uhuru, etc. I’m also a big jam band fan. What rootsy reggae bands really stretch out often live with extended solos and band interplay that I may not be aware of?

Reggae Goose

All you setlist experts, please list all the reggae songs done by Goose - originals and covers. Inspired by my first hearing of Indian River.

Nugs Audio

The 5/7/26 show audio went up on Nugs yesterday but 5/8/26 didn’t get uploaded today. Any idea if all the audio is going to get uploaded in the next day or two or are we likely to have to wait a while for the rest?
