TPLO Surgery for dogs…experiences/vet recommendations

Has anyone had this done for their dog recently? Any vet recommendations? It looks like Quartet is the one I see mentioned the most. Has anyone used them? NC State and Blue Pearl are also possibilities. Anyone else? Any recommendations or personal experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

Command $300, Nitro Max $295, Nitro Mesh $150

UPDATE: I got the Command and got the price down to $250!

I posted the other day about being brand new to drumming, over 60, and looking for my first set on Marketplace. Almost everyone agreed that the Nitro Mesh set I was looking at would be perfect but most thought it was too pricey at $250. I couldn’t talk the guy down any lower so I moved on. These are the three that are available at the moment. The Max is an hour away and I am skeptical because they seem much more expensive from Guitar Center for a used set. The other two are 15 minutes away. Thanks so much for all the help!

Allergy/irritation to bromine and non chlorine shock I think

I have a Bullfrog. The @FrogEase was okay but we found we still had to add some chlorine granules weekly. We also originally only used non chlorine shock 1-2 times a week even though we soak daily. After troubleshooting water issues, everyone said the non chlorine shock needed to be added after every soak. That’s when my itching started. I showered before and after and I was always so itchy. No real rash, just itchy. I thought it was from the shock but I wasn’t sure.

It was time for a water change anyway so we switched over to bromine last week. Went in it 24 hours later and I had to get out almost immediately. My eyes and nose started burning like crazy. Water was perfectly balanced though. Let it go a couple days and tried again. It was better in the tub but within an hour my nose and eyes started burning again. And no, I am not going under water. It’s now ten days later and we tried soaking again tonight. My eyes and nose feel like they are on fire right now and we got out of the tub six hours ago!

I’m convinced bromine isn’t for me but I am still concerned about the non chlorine shock also being problematic. I don’t know what to do at this point. Frustrating!

Are either of these a good deal for a first timer?

I’m an older aged woman 🙃 with zero instrument experience and not musically inclined at all but I have always wanted to learn to play the drums for fun so why not!

Edit to add:

The first one doesn’t really come with a description other than “works perfectly” but the second one for $200 says, “Alesis nitro electronic drum set. Comes with snare and 3 toms, hihat, crash, and ride. Also comes with kick and hihat pedal. Everything you need to start drumming affordably!”

Bromine users: what do you use for shock?

Switching over to bromine with my water change this weekend for a variety of reasons. For those who use bromine, do you use non chlorine shock (potassium peroxymonosulfate) or can you/do you use a chlorine shock (sodium dichlor)?
I think the non chlorine shock is bothering my skin but I am not certain. I just read a post where someone said they only use the dichlor shock in their bromine spa and I didn’t know that was an option.

How does “Income-restricted options for qualified residents” work with regard to apartments?

I see there are many apartments around Raleigh that have this statement on their website. I have done chats with them (likely AI) and it seems they have 2-4 available apartments set aside specifically for this. From what I can understand, these aren’t part of section 8 but maybe I am wrong. It sounds like you don’t need a voucher.
Has anyone applied? What is the percentage off? The chat bot says it’s $1200-$1400 a month but the other apartments that aren’t income-restricted are the same price so there has to be a discount once you qualify, right?
I am trying to help someone out but don’t want to get their hopes up. I called two and nobody answered but it’s the weekend so maybe that’s why.

Is there a correct answer to how often you should shock your tub?

I know people will respond with, “I shock X amount of times.”
The question is really about whether there’s a correct answer here or is it more about all the other factors (temperature, number of bathers, laundered bathing suits, little kids, etc)?

I see people who use non chlorine shock after every use which might mean daily, those who shock daily even if they don’t use it, some who shock once to twice a week, and still others who only shock monthly. The back of the bottle is hit or miss. The last brand we had didn’t even say how often. Our current bottle says once a week, twice if it’s heavy use. What defines heavy use? We are two adults, shower before every use, no suits, 30 minute soak 5-6 days a week.

Physical therapy recommendations (back/shoulder) that isn’t overly crowded?

I went to Raleigh Orthopedic for PT a few years ago and while the therapist was nice, it was just so “peopley.” Every table was full each time to the point that my therapist was bumping into the therapist at the table next to us. I was having trouble focusing with so much going on around me. I have been to PT many times outside of NC and never had that experience. I am sure there are more subdued PT places. Any recommendations for a chiller vibe that would be good for back and shoulder therapy?

How do stop Libby from searching at a library that I no longer utilize?

Edit: Resolved!

Since my New Orleans library card expired (sad face) I was able to remove the library card from Libby but whenever I do a search it is still searching New Orleans. Is there a way to remove it completely?

Scrap Exchange classes/workshops

I just discovered The Scrap Exchange today! It’s 30 minutes from me but was worth the drive. Picked up some great things for crafts. I see they offer multiple art classes/workshops. Has anyone taken any? Worth it? Fun, no pressure type thing? They seem like a chill store so I would think the classes would be along those same lines. I’m not an artist and just like playing around with different projects.

How do you sew thicker material on a machine?

Trying to teach myself to sew. I picked a pretty easy squishmallow pillow pattern but it calls for fleece. Everything is all cut and ready to sew but it seems way too thick. I have to cram it under the pressure foot. That doesn’t seem right but I don’t have a clue what I should do. Brother CS7000X
Ignore the blue thread. I was just practicing.

It looks like quite a few community centers offer indoor open pickleball. Does anyone play at any of them regularly? Are they packed with long waits? Are they cliquish and filled with groups of four who will only play together? Or are they generally fun people who enjoy playing with whoever shows up?

I want to join a gym just for the summer so I don’t want a place that requires a contract. I want to use a personal trainer that is experienced with “those of a certain age.” Looking online, REX and Crunch are contract free and have trainers. Crunch might be a little younger crowd though. Any thoughts?
