Seminars/workshops for education students?

Hi there!

I’m an education student at the uofa. I notice that all of their workshops for teachers are specifically for staff at the school, not education students.

Therefore, I was wondering if anyone knows of any organizations that offer frequent virtual workshops/seminars for teachers that also allow for education students to attend?

Thank you!!

Working during practicum?

I will specifically be studying at the UofA (in case that helps) and was wondering what time u could typically make it to work after the end of school? As in - are student teachers able to leave right at the bell?

Thank you!!

The TRUE Origin of Kani/Rotso Fabric!

As a result, this fabric is worn throughout the Sahel and of course South Asia, not simply the HoA. No wars need to fought over this fabric, we can chill girls😭🙏

Seasonal Kindergarten Work? For WHV Holder.

Hi everyone!

I’m planning on coming to Japan for just under 4 months between May - August 2027, and was hoping to find some part-time work (4 days a week not broken up). I don’t mind if those days include weekends.

But, since my arrangement is a bit unique, I was struggling to find something online, and was wondering if you all knew of places that would be willing to hire someone in that time frame. I don’t need a visa sponsorship since I will be on a WHV.

Anyway, I thought it would be worth trying here, and I appreciate your guys’ time!

Seasonal Employment in Fukuoka

I hope this post is allowed! If not, I’m sorry about that.

I am planning on doing a WHV in Japan between May - August 2027 (4 months), and Fukuoka was a top destination for me.

As a result, I was hoping to find some work that is (ideally) 4 days / week (not broken up), and was wondering if this is something that you guys believe is feasible? If so, what types of places would typically accept this sort of arrangement?

I’m open to lots of things as long as the hours are as described above (4 days / week, not broken up), from eikaiwa work to reception. I also don’t require visa sponsorship, which I am hoping proves beneficial.

If anything comes to mind, I would be glad to hear your thoughts.

Anyways, thank you guys for your time and input!

When does EDFX 325 (winter placement) officially end?

Their website says April 30th, but is that actually the last day of physically being in classes? Or, does it end earlier?

Thank you so much!

Do any Schools Take Student-Teachers / Interns from Abroad?

Basically the title. I’m going to be starting a 2 year education program this fall, and after my first year, was hoping to spend the spring/summer in a classroom abroad.

I’m aware that I will have to pay for everything, but was just curious to see if any of you know of any schools that accept student-teachers or interns from abroad, and that have a school term that runs through June-August (doesn’t have to be those exact dates, but in general that teach during the North American summer months).

It doesn’t have to have transferable credits either, since I know that is probably rare.

Thank you SO much!!

How much experience are new grads expected to have? Including EC’s, volunteering, etc.

Hi all!

I’m beginning an elementary education after degree, and to be honest, the job market in the Edmonton area is worrying me.

When I scroll through the internet to see the resumes of Canadian teachers, they seem to include everything from extra certs, endless PD, a plethora of volunteering, clubs, coaching, organizing events/programs at school, IB/Montessori experience, extensive teaching experience, ECC certs, ELL/Literacy/Special Ed quals, finding the cure to cancer, etc., and I can’t imagine how I could compete after graduating…

…OK, I may be overstating slightly.

But, is there anything a new grad can do to stand out? Do people actually go from school to school asking to introduce themselves to the principal? Would something small like producing my own website online with lesson plans/recordings be useful?

Anyway, I digress😅 If you have any tips and tricks for landing a job in this market, please let me know!

Thank you all so much :)
