Questions about my 1-2 week hitchhike in July. (Odense, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris)

I have a week or two to hitchhike from Odense in Denmark to Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and back in mid July. I have a few questions about it.

  1. Is it realistic for me to sleep overnight with my tarp and my sleeping bag and pad, if I find myself at night outside the cities / on the road?
  2. Is there a chance my things get stolen when I sleep in the wilderness, and how can I make it so they don't get stolen?
  3. Is it realistic to actually go see all these three cities within one week? If not, how long do you think it will take?
  4. Is it possible to find hostels on the day I know I will arrive in the city?
  5. Is there anything else I should think about before going?
