Restoring vintage speakers with walnut veneer. I don’t know what created the black marks but mineral spirits didn’t do any good. I’d rather not sand. Any ideas?

New (to me) rosewood System Cado wall unit. Purchased from Zeitwert Furniture on Etsy. Max specializes in wall units. I highly recommend him if you're looking for something like this.
