What are some of the wild implications of this world that are never discussed in game?
Aline created a whole city of "real" people. A city of people with hopes, dreams, aspirations, families. They can have children.
The people of Lumiere create a whole new culture around the looming doom that is the Gommage.
Aline created LIFE....like...real life. I am kind of surprised the game never ruminates on whether or not the painted people of Lumiere have souls. Considering a "soul" is a real and tangible thing in this game. Being that the last remnant of Verso's soul is the reason this world exists at all.
Seems like a prime topic for Lune to have a mental breakdown over.
But then, in a throw away line by Renoir, we understand Aline does this countless times in countless paintings. And get this, getting addicted to a paintings world is a real problem!
Aline and Renoir both have almost died because they spent too much time in their fabricated realities. Imagine if taking a cocktail of mushrooms, LSD, and acid just sent you to an actual different reality. And these parents let their kids just...paint as they please.
Oh man. It all make sense now. Their huge house, no jobs, just painting all day. They aren't magical gods....well they are...but....they are a drug cartel!
The writers tried to burn down their house because of a magical fictional reality fueled drug feud. You think Renoir would let such an act of aggression go unanswered? I bet he has the writers trapped in some hellscape painting of his own darkest creations.
