Can I switch banks to an account with a different name, or do I need to open a new account and transfer manually?

The other name is mine, to be clear! I changed my name earlier this year, I've been sending off documents, forms and originals as a part-time job for months and have a new passport, driver's licence, updated details with seemingly everyone (it's a great way to audit all the arrangements you have!).

But I have 3 current accounts (not loaded or anything, just did a bunch of those switching bonuses when I was younger and ran a business for a while!), and despite going through their process of filling in their forms and sending off original documents and supporting material in the post, each one of them told me I had to come into the branch to sort it out.

To be very honest, I can't be arsed and have better things to do than drive to 3 different banks during their opening hours. Thought it'd be easier and quicker just to open new accounts and transfer over.

But I have direct debits set up and would like to move them intact, although I could do this manually if I have to. So doing an account switch would be easier, but I don't know if that's possible if the new account is under a different (correct) name?

I will add I'm a little pissed off to be honest, I get the need for prudence, but I'm informing, not asking permission, I've told you this is my name and provided evidence, the government agrees, one or both of us are pedantically committing identity fraud (i mean not really but) by continuing to use my old name due to your outdated records!

Apologies, the thought of taking a day off to wander into 3 different bank branches without appointments (and they haven't told me to bring anything so who knows if they'll even be able to sort that out there and then) makes me all kinds of irrational!

Trans-porter- Me and my Subaru I'm driving to Ukraine in a few months!

I posted about this a little while ago when I first picked this up (2004 Outback, 3L H6 Petrol) and wanted to share an update! After a lot of hard work and being covered in grease and rust for the last few weeks, she's in much better shape and with a functional rear subframe!

I'm a 30 y/o trans girl from the UK, started on HRT about 18 months ago, and started coming out in January. Coming to terms with my gender has made me realise I can be someone I'm proud to be, and since then I try to be the person I want to be in in all aspects of life. This is throwing me way out of my comfort zone, but I'm more excited about this than any 'relaxing' holiday I've been on. Basically I'm doing all the teenage 'find yourself' shit most people do in their teens!

Now I've got most of the major work done, I put on the convoy decnals and took it out to get some new shots to help with fundraising. Took these at an industrial estate I used to work on near sunset so I wouldn't be seen too much, I always feel like a goof taking pics of myself in pubic, especially with a tripod. Have to say with the lighting and temporarily cooperative hair, these have come out quite flattering!

Car stuff:

Took the wind out of my sales to find the rear subframe was... largely missing, corrosion isn't the word. Questioned whether to find another vehicle, but decided to double down and it worked. I did loads of prep, pre-cracking all the bolts, sometimes having to cut and press bits out, so that it would go smoothly when we had it on a friend's lift.

The swap ended up going really smoothly... apart from I got a legacy subframe and the spacers wouldn't quite line up, but an angle grinder soon smoothed that out.

I made a dumb video of some of the progress!

I've been working on some smaller bits, but my remaining big job is to fit a new trans oil pan. I've got the part and the super special gasket sealant. Just need to get some trans fluid now... any volunteers ;P

Fundraising!

I don't know if this is okay (I will remove if not), but I'm learning to be shameless about it when its for a good cause! I'm raising money mostly to cover fuel and insurance costs to come, I know I'm not going to cover the costs of the vehicle and repairs, but that is my contribution! All the money goes via the charity, nobody gets paid, we pay for our own accommodation and return flights, money donated goes entirely to the vehicles, aid, fuel and tax/insurance.

This isn't why I'm making the post- I'm in it for the love of the game! But if anyone would like to help me out, you can do so here, only if you're comfortable enough to do so. I'd be extremely grateful, and promise that anything donated will go a long way (because I'm cheap af!)

Check it out- decnals! After having to fit a new rear subframe, putting the stickers on and taking some pics was a nice change of pace!

This is the 2004 Outbacc I'm driving to Ukraine full of aid, and will be donating the vehicle as well as the aid. Vehicles like this are used for civilian evacuation in high risk areas, often under drone and sometimes even artillery attack.

Took the wind out of my sales to find the rear subframe was... largely missing, corrosion isn't the word. Questioned whether to find another vehicle, but decided to double down and it worked. Needed some new shots for fundraising so took it out this evening as the sun was going down to an industrial estate I used to work on where I knew not many people would be this time of day. I always feel like a goof setting up a tripod and taking pictures of me in public! Some boys honked me!

I'm raising money for this here. It's mostly to cover fuel and insurance costs to come, I know I'm not going to cover the costs of the vehicle and repairs, but that is my contribution! A few members of this sub have donated which I really wasn't expecting the first time I posted and am extremely grateful for! I'm pretty new to this sub and the trans, but I'm really proud to be a part of both! I now have a trans sticker on the back along with a few others, but I didn't take any from that angle today.

I've been working on some smaller bits, but my remaining big job is to fit a new trans oil pan. I've got the part and the super special gasket sealant. Just need to get some trans fluid now... any volunteers ;P

Auto transmission fluid change - where to fill + other questions on a 2004 Outback (H6 EZ30D Auto)

Feel silly for asking but finding it hard to get a definitive answer due to the age and all the different variants! It seems like the answer is 'though the dipstick hole', but I'm going to be draining it entirely, so if it is through the dipstick hole, got any tips to speed things up?

So yeah, it's a 2004 Outback Auto with the 3L H6 (EZ30D). I need to fit a new trans oil pan, which I'm fairly certain means draining the full volume!

Was going to refill with DX3 transmission oil, I believe I need about 10L (ouch). I don't know when it was last done, and as the pan is leaking, I can only assume it's been topped up (so probably relatively 'fresh'), but at the same time, I've no idea what they used, and based on the ameteur work I've seen on the vehicle, I don't trust it too much!

With that in mind, should I expect something other than a single empty followed by single fill? I assume get it warm first, then drain. Do I need to do anything more to 'clean' it? I'll also warm the oil before filling, but will I have to stop part way to 'turn the gears' before topping it off to get it all to run down?

Finally, I assume a new internal filter is prudent here?

Sorry for the basic questions, I understand a lot of the principles but am quite inexperienced working on cars specifically!

When first I made sight with the enemy, I gave the order to rule, that's my style, sir!

My hops have come inside and are trying to make contact with last year's hops!

These are Target hops which I rarely use so like to hang the bines. It's been really hot lately so my windows have been open for at least a week and one of the bines has grown in through the window!

If they touch, will it trigger some kind of Third Impact event?

Anyone else steal enemy vehicles after gigs then drive link a gonk & attack other gangs to tarnish the otherwise flawless reputation of the previous owners?

Now I'm looking more femme, I'm enjoying masc things a lot more!

I sometimes feel that I have the reverse of the stereotype of 'overcompensating' using 'manly' hobbies. Now I feel more femme, I actually feel way better!

Picked this up today, 2004 Subaru Outback with a 3L Boxer H6! First time buying a car without support but I think I've done well. I'm not really a 'car person', but more of an engineer, so I know the fundamentals then do a lot of research on the specifics!

Going to be driving in a convoy 1,500 miles from the UK to Ukraine. The vehicle will be used for civilian evacuation, and we'll fill it up with mostly generators and medical aid, including ~100,000 rigid eye shields I make myself!

A year ago I was 29 with a beard thinking it was too late. Feels like I'm finding myself again!

Did I Choose Wisely? Driving this to Ukraine where it will be used for civilian evac. 2004 Subaru Outback, Boxer H6 3L Engine, £1700

I think I'm pretty pleased with myself, first time looking at and buying a car without any help or second opinions! I'm not really a car person, but I know the principles and research things.

Ukraine needs reliable 4x4 vehicles like these to be used for civilian evacuations. We drive them ~1,500 miles to Ukraine filled with generators, medical aid, etc, hand them over, then fly back.

Was pretty nervous judging the condition by myself, but I think I've made a good call. This engine is fun and thirsty, fortunately I won't have to tax it for long, and the economy is a short term expense!

But, this is one of Subaru's most reliable engines, powerful, which will be nice fully loaded, and acceleration is desirable in many evacuation situations. Loads of space for cargo to take there. Timing chain rather than a belt. Even came with a few

Interior is luxury! It's automatic, 6-CD Changer AND an auto-reverse tape deck! Heated seats, cruise control. I'm really looking forward to driving this.

I've also never driven abroad before, but I'm trying to get myself out there in the world a bit, I've become quite reclusive due to t h e g e n d e r, now I want to come back swinging! So the last image is a little tongue-in-cheek!

On average, vehicles like this save 50 lives, evacuating people from settlements coming under direct attack. Speed is the only thing that helps in these scenarios. I'm not using this to promote my fundraiser, if anyone's interested I'll let the mods decide what's appropriate. Really I'm just feeling quite pleased with myself and wanted to share!
