Do you think activewear trends are ruining functionality?

I feel like activewear brands are focusing so much on aesthetics lately than actual performance is getting lost a bit. And honestly, I get it, it’s business, and brands are going to create what appeals to the mass market.

But where are the girls who actually train HARD?

Where are the gym girls doing intense sessions, lifting heavy, sweating, moving properly, and needing activewear that genuinely performs with them? Sometimes it feels like activewear is becoming more about looking cute for a matcha run or a mirror photo than being designed for real training. Atleast on gymshark for example people are actually lifting.

No hate at all, because there’s obviously room for both. But I’d love to hear from the girls who truly put their activewear to the test every week.

What do you think the industry is missing right now when it comes to functionality, support, comfort, or performance?

What do you wish activewear brands paid more attention to?

I feel like activewear brands are focusing so much on aesthetics lately that actual performance is getting lost a bit. I get that its business, i understand it is what sells to the mass. But.... Where are the girls who train HARD? Where are the gym girls who are workin up a sweat in their activewear and not just getting a matcha?

This is why I do like gymshark, even Elite Eleven it's not so exposing but shapes in a confident way. And atleast on gymshark people are actually LIFTING in the clothing ...

What do you wish active brands paid more attention to? Let's talk about it!!

Unpopular Opinion: everyone is duping each other in the activewear industry RANT

I’ve worn sooo many different activewear brands and observe what others wear in and out of the gym the activewear they choose. And I know we all want to flatter our bodies and suit our body types I am HERE FOR IT!!!
But I just wish there was some more originality, why do all the brands copy one big brand? Be original, be unique. It’s so boring. So much activewear is based off trends not actually for form and function. I feel people have forgotten the TRAINING aspect and just for fun cutesy vibes. Rant Over.

WELCOME & Why I started this community

Hello everyone and welcome!! 🤍

I honestly made this community after realising how many women experience the same activewear frustrations but barely talk about them openly.

I am Angey and have been training for around 4 years and lately I’ve noticed activewear feels more focused on trends and aesthetics than how women actually feel while moving, training and existing in these clothes every day.

After posting a simple question about period gym anxiety, I was shocked by how many women said they:

  • only wear black leggings,
  • tie jumpers around their waist,
  • skip workouts,
  • avoid certain outfits,
  • or feel uncomfortable in seamless styles during certain phases of their cycle.

This community is for honest conversations around:

  • activewear,
  • gym confidence,
  • movement,
  • comfort,
  • women’s sport,
  • period-friendly ideas,
  • fit issues,
  • and what we genuinely wish brands understood better.

Whether you lift, dance, run, play sport, do pilates or just love activewear — welcome 🫶

Does anyone else completely change what they wear to the gym on their period? 😭

I swear I suddenly become terrified of anything except black leggings and oversized shirts. I even catch myself tying jumpers around my waist “just in case” hahaha.

Sometimes I honestly wish there was seamless activewear actually designed for period days that still looked cute and flattering instead of just making me want to hide in baggy clothes 😭 Curious to know what other girls do during this time???

GYM GOERS / SPORTS WOMEN : Does your period affect what you wear for training?

Hey girls! Random question because I’m researching women’s activewear/gym comfort stuff.

Do you personally avoid coloured or seamless leggings on your period? Or does it not really affect what you wear?

I feel like so many girls silently stick to black but no brands actually talk about it properly , the period leggings on the market are bit of odd colours and patterns. Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences!

GYM GIRLS: do periods affect what leggings you wear?

I feel like so many girls silently stick to black, and period leggings are usually some odd patterns. I'd love to know the gym girl / sport women community thoughts!!!
