Quick reminder on the 2021 Brett Howden trade

In July 2021 the Rangers traded Brett Howden to Vegas for defenseman Nick DeSimone and a 2022 4th-round pick.

That 4th-rounder (111th overall) turned into Noah Laba (C, University of Denver → Rangers prospect).

As for the other piece: Nick DeSimone never played a game for the Rangers. He’s now a depth defenseman for the Utah Mammoth, where he just signed a 1-year extension.

Platinum since 2014 — Suddenly cut off from ALL comp offers and accruing comps playing slots. Host was told to tell me it was a “business decision.” Mid-tier players, this is the new normal?

Long-time MGM player here (25 years total, Platinum since 2014). I’m not a high-roller or advantage player — just a regular mid-tier slot player loyal to NYNY and other MGM properties for over a decade.

For years I routinely took the mailed/host offers: roughly 30 free 7-night stays with $400 resort credit + $600 free play each. I figure that’s about $64,000 in total comp value I’ve actually used.

According to my own MGM Win/Loss statements (2020–2026 YTD):

  • I’ve risked over $900,000 in coin-in.
  • MGM’s actual realized profit from me? Only about $22,000 (effective hold around 2.5%, mostly because of a few big jackpot years).

Admittedly this includes this year where I’m already down over $10,000.

Today the host pulled me aside and said my promotional offers (rooms, credits, free play) have been cut off as a “business decision” and it was “not behavior related.” Offered to have me appeal with this ridiculous URL.

Then she sent me this link to request a review:
https://mgm.com/accountreview

Complete contradiction as the page says my account has a “Suspected Program Abuse Restriction” and talks about “suspected abuse of MGM Rewards program rules” (which sounds like Rule 27).

So which is it — a pure business decision, or am I being accused of abuse? I was never warned about any violation, never told I was doing anything wrong, and I would have stopped immediately if they had said so. I simply accepted the offers MGM themselves extended based on my documented play and risked real money every trip.

This feels incredibly shady and disrespectful to long-term loyal customers. I’m also an MGM shareholder, so I get the profit-maximizing angle… but is alienating mid-tier Platinums who’ve given them hundreds of thousands in action really a smart long-term strategy?

Question for other Platinum/Gold mid-tier players:
Has this happened to you in the last month or two? Did you get the same “business decision” line followed by the scary “suspected abuse” review portal? Did you submit the form, meet with marketing, or just switch to Caesars/El Cortez? Any success getting offers reinstated?

Would love to hear real experiences so the rest of us know what’s coming.

Play Reilly Smith please. Since Torts is watching a lotta tape: Someone needs to play this for him so he understands the magic of 19/71

The whole team stops playing thinking it's OVERTIME - yet Reilly jumps off the bench chasingr Wild Bill yelling "I didn't hear no bell!"
