Today’s Non-94 Moment: Brandon Prust Scores Shorthanded

On 02/12/2012, Brandon Prust scores short handed against the Washington Capitals, securing a 3-2 win at MSG.

Was anyone a Prustbyterian back in the day? He was the only bright side in that Olli Jokinen trade back in 2010.

What does a Trocheck trade look like to you?

Teams like Minnesota, Detroit and even Toronto recently have been rumored to be interested in Vincent Trocheck.

It's rumored the trade with Minnesota last season fell through because they were unwilling to give up Yurov.

With this weak FA class, the high value of centers, what type of return do you see Trocheck getting if he was to be moved?

What young prospect would you like to see being part of the return?

Do you believe Trocheck is worth holding onto - even if our "retool" timeline would see him 34-35 years old and at the end of his contract?

Today’s Non-94 Moment: Michael Grabner, Don LaGreca & Dave Maloney

On 01/07/2017, trailing 4-1, the Rangers come from behind to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-4 on the road. Michael Grabner scores the winning goal with under 20 seconds to go.

What made this moment more special was how the game was called by radio broadcasters Don LaGreca and Dave Maloney.

Reflection: Subjectively Chris Drury is not that bad

I remember when they played Ottawa in Dec 2024 and I literally saw them come out and start the 3rd period terrible, I knew they were going to lose the game and they ended up blowing a 3-1 league and lost in the opening minute overtime. It reminds me of the devils series, the Florida series, and the overall glaring problem that appeared every single time W’s were needed. They blew leads way too casually and not everyone showed up, always a rotation of like 2-3 guys producing and the rest watching Igor make like 50+ saves a game 🥀

Now that I’ve realized this, subjectively I don’t think Chris Drury has made as many bad calls as I used to.

Today’s Non-94 Moment: Zibanejad’s Playoff OT Winner

Montreal keeps on rolling with playoff OT win on the road. A favorite road OT win of mine, against these same Canadiens, is the 2017 ECQF one from Mika Zibanejad, and Sam Rosen making the call.

Were you happy when JD and Gorton got fired? When Drury got hired?

With us all(rightfully so in my opinion) banging on the “Fire Drury” drum, I was trying to think back to when Gorton and JD got fired and Drury was hired.

The context behind it, with the Panarin kerfuffle against Washington and their lack of spine to call out the BS, I felt like it was the right move at the time. I guess I still do even though they’ve really turned Montreal around.

And I remember when Drury was announced being pretty happy. He had been involved with the organization for a few years, had a reputation for winning, and seemed to be the young shrewd wizard we needed as a GM.

Where did it all go wrong? Should we have not fired Gorton? Not hired Drury? I’m trying to remember more about the context and sentiments but I can’t really seem to piece together my own memory. IDK summer thread to mull over at work.

I wish we would just rebuild

In my opinion, even if this "retool" goes perfect we'd still have a team a tier below last years Panthers or this years Avs. Vince's recent article really showed that we are 3-4 big pieces away from true contention. With our core aging it looks like we are set to be a mediocre team for the next few years. If that is truly the case - why not blow it up? This team has won a single cup in 85 years. What's another 5 years of sucking?

Fox for San Joses 2nd Overall Pick? Done.

Trocheck for a young promising prospect and a 1st? Done.

I think you seriously consider having talks with Shesty as well. I'd imagine he would pick where he goes, and the list would be very small based on his cap, but I can't imagine a team not happily giving up a haul for one of the best goalies in the world.

Realistically, anyone over the age of 30 should be shopped.

At this point I'm honestly fine being a lottery team for 5 years.
