Shouldn't a show about 90s sports mention the 94 Rangers?

I watched this show on CNN Decades in Sports. Tonight was the 90s. Now an hour really isn't enough time to cover everything and there was alot of wild stuff like OJ, Tonya- Nancy, and Tyson biting Holyfields ear but I think breaking a 54 year drought and Messier guaranteeing victory deserved a mention. they could've only done 14 minutes on Jordan instead of 15....lol. The NHL got a 5 second mention( RedWings dynasty) but that was it.

Why is Old Timers Day not such a big deal anymore?

When I would go as a kid in the 80s it was packed. Besides Opening Day it was the biggest ticket of the year. But looking at the layer intros today( I'm in Florida so I couldn't watch live) the crowd didn't seem too big. I've gone twice in the last ten years and both times there wasn't a big crowd for it. I chalked that up partly to early start times but today wasn't and while the crowd seemed bigger it wasn't huge. I dont want to be one of these older fans who thinks younger fans don't care about the past so maybe it has to do more with the world we live in today. I mean you can go on YouTube and watch MO or Paulie or Tino. so when you see them in person it's not as special as in my day. Those names even the non greats like Bauer and Skowron and others seemed almost mythical. to a kid like me you saw pictures but you never saw them play. so seeing Mantle or Yogi( until 85) coming out of the dugout is different than seeing Mo or even Reggie today. Does that make sense?

Was the Murcer comeback game on this date in 1979 the most emotional regular season game in Yankee history

I was only 6 years old so I vaguely remember watching it on tv but that game had to be so emotional for everyone involved. and was anyone here at the game? I can just imagine 55,000 fans cheering and crying at the same time.

When was there a train from Florida that went out west ?

Now I've always found it strange that to go anywhere out west from Florida you basically have to go to DC. But I guess it wasn't always that way. Years ago when I first started going to NYC out of DeLand I noticed this old board on the wall which mentioned a train going to LA. It said suspended or something next to it so it had been a while since the had this service. I've always wondered when and why they stopped.

Besides Danhausen do you think WWE will ever stop trying to be so " real"

I'm 53. I've been a fan 40 years. Really I shouldn't like Danhausen. But I do and I think its cause he reminds me of when WWE didn't take itself so seriously and didn't try to look " real". in the past you'd see wrestlers do things that in the real world would get them fired and in some cases arrested but we'd just go with it cause in the world of WWE you could beat up someone in their hotel room or trash their car and get away with it. NXT used to do this a little. I remember Tiffany Stratton losing a match to Fallon Henley and becoming her ranch hand for a week. That's what I'm talking about. totally unreal and ridiculous but we accept it because it's part of the WWE world. Look I'm not completely crapping on the product right now. I'm looking forward to Summerslam. I'm just saying I think they take themselves too seriously nowadays

  3. Skowron

  4. Martinez

  5. Teixeira

  6. Chambliss

  7. Giambi

This is why I miss Kayfabe

I was reading comments about the Alexa Bliss injury last night and most everyone had to show how smart they were by mentioning how she's double jointed and used to do that as a heel tactic years ago. So what. in this storyline she was injured by Jade which will probably lead to some sort of specialty match with Charlotte at Summerslam and to maybe write Alexa off tv for a bit. Just go with it for God's sakes. Some fans just can't enjoy wrestling.

Why is Richard Alpert never held accountable for anything?

It's funny how people never really talk about the bad things this guy did while other characters are. People talk about Richard like he's this great guy but they forget he was part of two mass murders on the island, The US Miltary unit in the 50s and then the Dharma Initiative. He didn't seem to have remorse about these nor did it seem like he had no choice but to go along with it. I dont think he's an awful person but I've seen other characters get alot more hate for doing far less. and it was odd seeing Miles bond with him when he was partially responsible for His father's death. am I just missing something here?

Watched some episodes from 1982 and....Wow!!!

I didn't have anything to do today so I watched a few old episodes from 1982 on Tubi. I'm 53 so I watched this when I was a kid but the things you don't notice back then.

Firstly it amazed me how the majority of the audience was female. and most of the men were older. you would think California being a tourist spot you'd have more younger couples, even back then.

Then there's Barker. look I'm not one of these offended by everything people but some of the things he said and did are just really out there

Called Female contestants " pretty Little thing" at least 3 times

said to the announcer after a female contestant sits in contestants row " I asked you to put a body in that seat and you certainly did"

I get it. they all were like this but I bet even back then it had to make some of these women uncomfortable.

Do they still do Superball? that was a cool game.

Penny Ante is one I'm glad is retired. guessing the price was near impossible cause they were all around the same.

They really would use alot of the same items over and over. I watched 5 episodes and I think I saw some items 3 times

Lastly. Holly was damn sexy. that is all...lol

Why do fans care so much about what they don't watch or like?

I dont understand this. I watch WWE. I dont watch AEW. I have given it a couple of tries but just can't get into it. Therefore I don't comment on any of their events because I don't watch them. That sounds fair and rational. Yet you have so many fans who like to talk about something they either don't watch or watch because they don't like it which is totally ridiculous in my opinion. and ridiculing people because they like something they don't is just beyond stupid. I know this isn't just wrestling. people are like this over everything but fans shouldn't be taking this so personally.

Looking for a relative

If this sort of post is not allowed I apologize. my mother has not heard from her brother in 30 years. last we heard he moved from Mt. Vernon NY to St. George where he was living with his wife. my mom is 75 and he's 9 years older and just wants to reach out. His name is Joseph Napolitano. it's also possible he's no longer living in St. George as a white pages search also turned up Maryland and South Florida but I figured I'd give this a shot. any help would be greatly appreciated. like I said if this is not allowed I totally understand

It's cool to see so many people watching Lost for the first time

Now maybe this isn't the best place for a first time watcher to visit given you could be spoiled but it really is great to see so many first time watchers here. They ignored the idiocy of other people who either never watched the show or quit watching at some point and gave the show a chance.

Remember Her

It seems to me that whenever this time of year comes around people focus more on her killer than the innocent victims. Nancy was one of the greatest valets in wrestling. she had good runs in Florida, NWA/WCW, and ECW. From her time as the devilish Fallen Angel in Florida she always had a presence. I loved her " transformation " in WCW from Robin Green to Woman. people forget she even managed Ric Flair for a spell in the NWA. Yet sometimes it's like she's just a footnote to the actions of a deranged individual. she should be remembered. Her son Daniel, who never had a chance to grow up, should be remembered.

Did most fans realize Bret Hart would become a big babyface?

Obviously I don't think many in 1986-87 could predict what was ahead for the Hitman but did it feel like he was just a heel cause Jimmy Hart was his manager? While Gorilla Monsoon would usually berate the heels he was always very complimentary of Bret. He may have even been the one who first called him the " Excellence of Execution". He had this coolness about him and was so good in the ring it was like we were only booing him because of Jimmy and Neidhardt. So in 88 when he turned it was really exciting for many fans. we can finally cheer him. what surprised me was that The Anvil turned as well. wasn't expecting that.

Melanie Griffith Episode

one of my favorites with a crazy array of guest stars from Mr. Sulu to Capt. Lou Albano. I was 15 when this episode aired and I remember for regular TV her sex scene with Crockett was something. did it cause any controversy at the time or is it just not as racy as I think even for the time.

Question about Going to see Yankees in St. Pete

I live in Florida about 80 miles from St. Petersburg. However I'll usually just go to one game and go home. But I may have some extra time next month and am considering going to the whole 3 game series. my question is for those who live in the area or may have visited, are there any nice and reasonably priced hotels near Tropicana Field. I do not drive so I would be using an Uber and don't want to be more than 5 miles away.

Did Days sweep an entire awards show in the 80s?

I think it was the Soap Opera Digest Awards. it was on tv in the mid to late 80s and I could swear I remember Days just sweeping the whole show or pretty close to it. the show was on fire in those days. or am I just misremembering

Running for Goldschmidt. In general is it a good move?

I've seen this happen for years. close game in the late innings. one of your top hitters gets on but he's not the fastest runner so you pinch run. I remember we'd do it with Giambi. Boston would do it with Ortiz. I've always thought unless he's the winning run in the 9th or extras it's a risky move cause you lose an important bat. Now last night Schuman walked so it wasn't a factor but many times over the years I've seen this come back to hurt teams.

Who remembers the random babyface teams on Saturdays?

I loved this back then. From what I remember to get more stars on the show they would just throw babyface teams together. Junkyard Dog would team with Tito Santana, Steamboat, and George Steele( the latter got a small house show run due to their popularity). Tito would also team with Pedro Morales. Cpl. Kirchner and Dan Spivey were another I remember. The funniest though was Uncle Elmer and Steele. What a random pairing.

The funny thing was you'd rarely see this with the heels. you had Muraco and Orton but they were thrown together because they were part of Pipers feud with Adonis. ill never forget when Hart and Neidhardt first teamed they'd be introduced as " members of the Hart Foundation " for a while until taking that as the team name.

Miami 1985

A few years ago I saw a couple of videos on YouTube played to music. one was Phil Collins " In the Air Tonight " and the other was " Just a Job to Do" by Collins and Genesis. Now I was watching then but I was only 12. Does anyone know if these videos were actually part of the show or fan made. I loved this storyline cause it was so Miami Vice inspired so the music would fit.
