To all those that whined about the firework restrictions.
How can you justify your whining about rectritions on your freedoms and leave stuff like this all over the town. You say you love America but you are trash to the land it stands on.

In a corrupt world, the good deed will always be illegal. This video, movement, and the people backing it is the irrefutable proof in the pudding that much like war, Utah is purposefully profiting off draining the entirety of the southwest's aquifers in the name of the mighty dollar, which in itself is a war against Earth as if it were to become uninhabitable, Utah would be the first! Just like the movie Rango, control the water, control the people!
Unlike the rich and elite in control of the water, the masses have wasted no time, money, or manpower in ensuring the techniques demonstrated in the video will be put into effect immediately due to the ignorance and negligence of city councils and their inability to do their job. Tucson is the perfect example of that the people's action is a forced hand, and despite being "illegal" they were swiftly deemed legal and adopted as requirements and blueprints for the city moving forth. If Utah city councils were on top of their game they'd have offered these solutions first before we the people have no other choice but to become vigilantes of the new wild west.
My friend was staying at the Courtyard Marriott in St. George, Utah and had a brief but memorable encounter with someone there.
She was wearing black and white plaid boxer shorts and a black T-shirt. She passed a guy in the elevator area as she was walking in with her family, and then they ran into each other again shortly after—he was coming out of the elevator as she was going back in.
All she remembers about him is that he was wearing pants with cargo pockets.
There was a clear moment of hesitation and missed opportunity, and she’s been wishing she had asked for his number but felt too shy in the moment.
It’s a long shot, but if this sounds familiar to you or someone you know—maybe a friend, coworker, or family member was staying there—it might be him.
We’d really love to help reconnect them if fate is willing to give it another shot.
Stay was Fourth of July
Although it isn't my favorite place to go, my parents love it for a get together. They were asking about it and I had no clue it was empty.
It's not showing up on Google maps.
Just moved here last month so I don’t know how rare this was but I was kayaking back in from fishing at gunlock reservoir and this fella was chasing bugs across the rocks! Such cool and interesting creatures so glad I got to spend a few minutes with it :)
Hey gang, why do you guys think its so difficult to make new friends here in southern utah? Especially when you aren't lds. Like where are all the normal people are they hiding out at home and keeping to them selves like I am?
I go to saint George quite often and have no clue where the weirdo niche is, I'm assuming there has to be some scene of peculiar people selling peculiar things. Also any cute stores? Let me know!
Red Button used to make a really good black licorice ice cream, but it looks like they don't anymore. Does anyone know if black licorice ice cream is available in the area? I'm guessing it might have to come from a local scoop shop.
Thank you!
Zone 8 - Southern Utah:
I hired a landscaper to install one Wilson olive tree and seven hopseed shrubs along my backyard wall. Four of the hopseeds were planted first, but the remaining three were delayed because of sourcing issues from the local nursery.
Now that they're all in the ground, the first four and the last three look noticeably different. The first four have a darker, more purple tone, while the last three are much brighter green. The landscaper says it's just a watering issue and has recommended deep watering with stakes. I've followed that advice for several weeks, but there's been little to no change.
My concern is that these may actually be different cultivars, seed lots, or strains rather than simply plants under different stress levels. If that's the case, I'm worried they'll always look mismatched, especially once they're mature. Since they're planted in a straight row across the entire back wall, it's pretty noticeable.
Has anyone run into this before?
I'd appreciate any opinions, especially from landscapers or anyone who's grown hopseed in the Southwest.
I'm usually despondent the day after an election because it feels like the voters in this state are either not paying attention or are happy with the status quo. I couldn't be happier this morning:
Incumbents lost all across the state. It's crazy that it had to get this bad for Utah voters to finally demand change. I hope it's more than a short-lived fad.
Hey all!
I told y’all about a site for locally owned and operated restaurants a couple years ago.
The directory covers Washington County and does not have any major chains. The goal of our directory is to support local restaurants as our town continues to grow.
We don’t want our local gems to get swallowed up by major chains that will inevitably come our way.
We don’t charge the restaurants anything, we don’t charge users anything. This is just a passion project for a stay at home mom (me!) so I don’t go crazy in this heat.
This Sikorsky Tarhe goes over my house about a dozen times every day. They’re fighting the 24,000-acre Grapevine fire between here and Caliente Nevada.
This is a former military heavy lift helicopter fitted with a 2,650 gallon tank (22,000 lbs of water). Not sure, but they may be filling from temporary reservoirs on the Nevada side, as their flight path usually shoots past the fire to a spot near a farm and then back to the fire. That strategy seems it would save fuel, too, as the bird can only fly 2.5 hours before refueling its 1,300 gallon tank.
There’s also UH-60 Blackhawk working the same fire along with a smaller Bell helicopter.
Some of you may know more about the operation. Share if you can.
I know the concept of a sports bar is a little foreign around here but is there anywhere around that’s broadcasting World Cup games? Beer isn’t a requirement, but a Wisconsinite can dream.
What's up St. George Reddit. My lady and I are moving to St. George, Utah from Las Vegas, Nevada. I have owned a home in Desert Color since 2020 and used it as an investment property. Now we are looking to escape the city life and move full time to St. George and rent out my properties here in Vegas.
Let me start. My family owns a business in Cedar City and two in St. George. I know the area and the politics well. We are NOT liberals. She is an African American from Germany served Airforce and I am tatted head to toe Harley Davidson Motorcycle Rider from Long Beach CA. We aren't here to ruin your politics. We are NOT LDS. We are heavily Southern Baptist, but generally don't care about people appearance or approach due to us looking quite different as well.
Few Questions I would appreciate answered - thanks in advance.
- What are some good gyms? Sauna, Cold Plunge, Steam Room, Weights, etc.
- We still are Las Vegans and we love a good dive bar. (Family owns 2 in St. George). What are some good trashy dive bars (cheap beers, cash only, hole in the wall vibes)
- What is there to do? Don't tell me hiking or outdoors, that's a given. What is there do to with the lady and I? We enjoy going out to eat, going to the movies, going to dive bars etc.
- How strict is weed? I personally don't smoke but my lady will take a couple puffs off a joint once or twice a day. That being said - Do I need to worry about neighbors?
- What is the job market like? The Economy? I am a software engineer and she runs two business remotely - we both work remote. My concern is I will continue to be a software engineer but as mentioned I will be taking over all three bar locations in Cedar and St. George and just want to make sure there is a stable city economy.
- What is "Night Life" like there? I know you are thinking we are from Vegas there is no "Night Life" but we are club people, we are restaurants, bars, activities (things open late - escape rooms, lounges etc)
I appreciate anyone who answers and is respectful in the comments! Thank you!
Hi, I hope I’m not breaking any rules, but I’m really hoping I could get this sweet little polydactyl calico cat adopted.
We took her to the vet to be treated for an upper respiratory infection (they said it has NOT spread to the lungs) and small scratch on her eye. She received shots for the respiratory infection, which has improved in the subsequent days, and I’ve been administering the eyedrops they gave us for her scratch daily. They think she is a few years old.
I will be leaving tomorrow for Las Vegas, so I could bring her to anyone living between Richfield/Salina area and Vegas.
She’s a bit shy, but very sweet and docile. Never tried to bite or hiss. She hasn’t been able to groom herself much due to the respiratory infection, so she looks a little bedraggled, but I know she would clean up so cute (with all her little toes!) Wish I could keep her, but I unfortunately I can’t :(
What is happening? I've heard constant sirens for the last hour.
