Small but mighty

It’s finally done, after many months, many tests and many hours of learning.

Pedaltrain Nano+
Cioks DC-7, EQ is set to 24v, Compressor at 18v

- Peterson Strobostomp Mini
- Lusithand Devices Alma Comp MkIII
- JHS Morning Glory Clean (always on)
- Way Huge Pork & Pickle (dirt when needed)
- JHS Flight Delay (delay, chorus and vibrato)
- Broughton Audio Resonant Filter Equalizer (final tone shaping)

Still needs some knob tweaking but so far I’m extremely happy with this setup, it handles both my very different basses perfectly (Sire V5, Reverend Mercalli), and it just sounds great.

Now excuse me if I don’t respond quickly, I’ll be playing all afternoon with this.

Todays project

Installed this hitch receiver today. It was relatively easy, except one of the screws goes in a position that’s really hard to reach.
It’s a Tuxtreme I got from Amazon for $149, really solid unit, and it goes straight in with three screws on each side directly into the frame. Only had to temporarily remove the spare and unhook the muffler from the three rubber hooks so you have access on the passenger side.
Note: it uses 18mm socket, torque wrenched to 86lb, I had to buy the socket and the wrench.

Suggestions for Fuzz and Chorus

I’m planning to ditch my current bass pedals and consolidate to this, but I haven’t tried either of those and I don’t know what else is available with top mounted jacks/power and small enough. I’ll be plugging into a Laney Digbeth DB500H that has nice overdrive. Tuner is covered.
(The pedalboard app doesn’t have the bass EQ)

These two work so well together

I had a regular Tumnus for a while and liked it so much I changed it to the Deluxe. These two are very similar but also complement each other beautifully.

First pedalboard_final_v1.3_FINAL(signed)

After trying several pedals, trading, studying and learning about pedals, about power, about noise, cables, and how each pedal affects the next, and lots and lots of testing, here's the result.
It's a Voodoo Lab Dingbat medium (22" x 13.5"), with Power Pedal 3 + X8.

I may want to change the Del-Verb for a Starlight Echo Station for presets, or if I can swing it later on, a Walrus Audio Meraki, and also the Octa Psi may go for a Beetronics Swarm, but will see how this goes.

Signal chain:

  • Guitar ->
  • Walrus Audio Canvas Tuner ->
  • Keeley Octa Psi ->
  • JHS Morning Glory Clean ->
  • EarthQuaker Devices Splitter/Buffer (A ->) / (B ->)
    • (A) ProCo Rat 2
    • (A) Pigtronix Philosopher’s Tone
    • (B) Wampler Ego76
    • (B) Wampler Tumnus
  • DSM / Humboldt Simplifier X

Loop

  • Eventide TriceraChrorus
  • UAFX Del-Verb

Few changes

Got rid of the Keeley Filaments and got a Wampler Ego76, and a Tumnus for a boost. The Bass Clone is temporary, I’ve ordered the TC Electronics SFC Gold Stereo chorus instead.
I’m loving the Simplifier, clean channel (B) has zero noise and sounds really good. Sharing Chorus and Delay over the two channels and stereo output

Pedalboard V1

Mostly bassist getting into guitar. I’ve played sporadically but never practiced, this year I’ve decided I want to become at least competent on rhythm guitar, so here we go. Some of these I’ve had for a while, finally putting it all together.

I’ve got a Voodoo Lab Power X8, and no board yet, I want to see how this works in practice before committing to a size.

NGD: Jetstream 290

I wasn’t planning on buying a guitar, much less a yellow guitar, but the universe conspired. As soon as I saw this one I heard the angel voices above me, and when Sweetwater reduced it to $950 I had to get it. I’m over the moon.
