Moderators Message: Election Period Moderation

We are down to the last weeks of the election period and we are seeing a lot of activity around this event. A lot of healthy sharing of news and opinions. Also some problematic attacks and activity. We wanted to post a reminder about some usual rules and one election period special rule.

Please remember our usual rules about civility towards each other and remember it is also not okay to insult voter bases. For example you can hate on QP or ARF, but not on QP voters or Dashnak voters.

Special election period rule: For a couple of reasons we are not going to allow "hot take" posts during this period. You can share your hot takes in the comments all you like, but if you post them, they will be removed. We are doing this because 1) We have had too many already and 2) We have seen that too many people asking "What do you think of party X" are actually not interested in what people think and are trying to manipulate people.

Along those lines, no misinformation, obviously.

And finally, as always do not discuss moderation in the sub. If there is a problem, you can simultaneously report the comment/post and you can message the mods here: https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=/r/armenia - There is a TON of activity in the sub so please give us a moment, we are not able to keep up sometimes.

AS AN EXCEPTION to the no talking about moderation in the sub, you may ask about it in the comments of this post here.

That's about it. Let's keep this the best place to have a civil and intelligent discussion about Armenia.

Thanks!

A Call to Armenians and Azerbaijanis

Armenians and Azerbaijanis,

You are not traitors for wanting peace! In my opinion, the opposite is true: you are patriots for not wanting to send future generations into endless hatred and war.

Wanting dialogue does not mean you forget history, abandon your people, or ignore pain. It means understanding that the cycle of hatred needs to be broken somehow.

The voices filled with anger and hate are loud, but they are not the only voices. There are many calm and rational people on both sides who are tired of seeing our peoples remain enemies forever.

We need stop hating and dehumanizing each other. We have to keep talking so that we slowly soften each other’s hearts instead of hardening them even more.

This is a call to be active and contribute. Speak respectfully. Build bridges where you can. Do not be ashamed for choosing peace, even when others attack you for it.

Peace 🙏
