Here's a thought: The people don't like them. Get rid of them. Don't go with Axon either.

This was always a nice little theater and I think the popcorn was always WAY better than Celebration. Family owned and West Michigan local. This is a loss.

Just like how I argued and foretold: no charges would be brought. It was all just a "respect mah athoritah" move by GRPD.

I just got my bill, and although it is only a little more than last year, I was hoping for an actual decrease.

The City General Operations Millage, City Library Operations Millage, and County Operating, reduced their millage rates. But then the assessment goes up to net a total increase.

Not sorry; with the prices of everything else going up, I was hoping against reality I guess to have a lower tax bill.

Two days ago, a post labeled "GR, if you oppose Flock Safety, you're a terrorist!" Was posted in r/grapids following it's removal from r/ Grandrapids the day before.

Both posts were quite popular and well discussed getting over 40,000 views total and a combined 335 upvotes.

The grapids sub was formed **because** of censorship in r/ grandrapids and embraced as an alternative forum to the community especially for topics blocked in the latter sub. The new trajectory, IMO, is that they are going the same way.

What does the community think?

I work with a young guy who is starting his senior year in highschool. He will have his private pilots license by the end of summer, and is a 3.2 - 3.5 GPA student. He wants to do AFROTC at a top 100 school after High school, and wants to fly as a career; combat or no.

He's currently being badgered by a recruiter who is promising things that I'm certain cannot be delivered, like "you should enlist so we can pay for school, you don't need ROTC it will only make school harder", and "if you enlist now, we will renegotiate your contract if you get accepted to ROTC and you can pick nearly any job", and it gets worse. He's starting to believe some of this crap.

What IS his best path?

What are his chances of an AF flight offering thru AFROTC?

Am I wrong to advise him to stick to the college path?

Coming south down Leffingwell, going to hang a right (West) down Leonard, and NOPE!

WTH, last week this was open westbound but the signs haven't changed! It looks like there is 1 lane out of 5 open, and plenty enough room for 1 lane in each direction, but nope, some zipper heads have decided one lane one direction is enough. Well crap.

I hang a left instead and right on the beltline, go to Michigan and hang a right onto Maryland. I come to Leonard and WTF!!! "Detour EB Leonard!!??!!" But East is open, it's west that is blocked.

It's just stupid. Whoever is doing the traffic routing here needs to be just fired. I've been down this way 8 times in 2 weeks and there is no logic or warning as to what is going on. There is NO signage at either off ramp, and it just is a mess.

That said, what are WE prepared to do to not hand access to our (even if unwanted) Flock Cameras to the Federal Government?

I'm sure the FBI can be trusted to be Apolitical, Right?

Just the other day u/zach-lassiter reported **"Kalamazoo Police Removes GRPD Flock Camera Access (AGAIN)"** right here in r/grandrapids where the US Marshals were scrolling the system.

Fascists, socialists, communists, theocracists, it doesn't matter. We have given ANY extremist, or even moderate, political ideology the tools to further bolster their power base.

"Safety" or security has ALWAYS been weaponized. Cops carry guns "for their safety". Knights carried swords, to "defend their land". But also to subjugate their people.

Every castle can become a prison. Even caves are as efficient at keeping dangers out, as keeping dangers in.

This is not a "Left vs Right" thing. This is giving a toddler a hammer in a china shop, ideology doesn't matter; this is giving a tool to someone with no idea of consequence. Our elected officials cannot be trusted with a budget, Left or Right. Now we are arming "The Party Police" with unfettered access to the daily lives of the people, just like China has had for YEARS.

What could the Bushes, Biden, Kamala, Sanders, or Trump do if they knew EXACTLY what anyone, anywhere was doing or saying all for the cost of Air? For the manpower required to move a mouse?

*"But it helps us catch criminals!!"* That's lovely, until YOUR political view makes YOU the criminal. If a totalitarian government is what we want, in any flavor, this is the base it needs.
