My first piece and question about Miyuki quality

I’m sharing my first beadloom piece I’ve finished today.
I know it has many flaws yet it is very meaningful to me for after years of mental health struggles I could finally create something!

The second picture shows some deformed beads I found during the work. I wonder if I was sold real Miyuki beads or got scammed? Is it common to have deformed beads from Miyuki? I thought they were the perfection of beads!

Pen pal for children

Is having a pen pal still a thing? Does anyone’s child have one?
I know I’m old, but when I was a child there was a dedicated page in the monthly Garfield magazine for kids looking for pen pals, or in fact several other kids’ magazines and it was easy to find someone to write to.
In the days of internet and social media where and how do I get one for my child?

Keeping child home from school in heatwave

I wish our school closed down for the next few hot days (they closed one year when the heating wasn’t working properly in the winter). However, so far they only sent a message about water bottles and suncream.
I’m not sure our school has A/C, DC says there is a fan in their classroom but he can’t feel the wind coming from it… 🤦‍♀️
Is anyone out there keeping their children home this week because of the heat?

Edit: why so many people got offended by my question? Hot weather is no joke, everyone’s body tolerates it differently.
Also, it looks like many people assumed I’m talking about a lovely 25-30C, but no, forecast is 35-38C.
The school messaged us about their heat protocol and offered early pick up for those who want to /can do.
I will see how my child feels tomorrow, but likely be keeping him home at least on Wednesday.
I hope everyone is staying safe and hydrated in the coming days! 🥂

What are the best quality British sweets?

I’m visiting family abroad soon and would like to give a selection of British sweets/chocolates to the children as a souvenir.
What are the most favourite British sweets or chocolates and which ones are also good quality (if the two goes together at all..)?
