Sanrio Girls!

Found the new omgs randomly tonight at Meijer, and boy are they cuties!

I know My Melody has not been the most popular design, but I'm a sucker for a doll with blue hair. And of course I had to get her bestie Kuromi. The new faces are really interesting and I like that they can side eye each other. I've also included a pic with the old style face of anyone wanted to see them side by side. In addition to the eyes and lashes, the head appears to be slightly short and the face is less flat around the most and mouth (forgot to take a pic in profile).

Same nice nylon hair with product in it same overall quality in the clothes, although obviously fewer pieces. Melody has just the skirt, shirt, hat, and shoes. Kuromi has all those plus a jacket and the belt. Ears are not pierced and they do not come with stands. Melody's hat does not stay on well, but Kuromi's is secured around her pigtails.

They're not OMG at their peak, but they're still nice dolls. They can have fun hanging out with their Licca counterparts!

Rumi has her patterns!

We got a glimpse of the ones on her arms in the stock photos, but they go across her shoulders and onto her neck! Almost makes up for the printing on her shorts. Almost. Where's my thread, there's gotta be a way to make these better...

Had to switch up her look a bit!

That heart dress just wasn't doing it. A bit of digging and a bit of mix and matching later and Kia is ready for fun! I love how she looks with a pony!

That's better!

My Fashion Style Kia traded bodies with a thrifted Skyler and just had to show off her new joints. It was a series 1 Skyler so she can't tilt her head, but both of think that's a small price to pay for knees and elbows!

Adventure!Zooey

Another one of my weekend's thrift finds! I love Zooey so much, but I don't want to mess up her stock hair style, so she's stayed at the doll house (helping her cousin Berry to chart a way back to their home planet). So when I found this girl with her ordinal skirt and top for $3 it was a no brainer. A very thorough wash later and a cute restyle and she is ready to go! And I mean thorough, this girl has already been on some adventures based on the stick and bits of dried grass I washed out.

Color depositing conditioner experiment

So, I thrifted this sweet little Robin this weekend and as I was washing her up I found a patch of marker in her hair that wasn't coming out. I don't care to dye doll hair, but I didn't feel like dealing with it so I decided to experiment. It's taken me forever to start using conditioner on my girls because all I have for myself is color depositing and I've been curious what would happen. I just sort of gobbed it on and combed it through-- if I were doing it again I'd thin it out a bit for more even coverage. I left it on for a couple minutes and rinse, and here's the result! I expect irl gradually wash out over time as is only semi-permanent, but it's a nice and easy fix. Second pic is with my og Robin for comparision. I used Overtones in extreme blue (which is sadly discontinued, I don't use it as often as I should cause the shea butter makes me itch).

Finally found Licca!

And she is so stinking cute!!!!

My hot topic and box lunch stores haven't had her, so I've been checking gamestop periodically and they finally had her in! She was kind hidden, too, like I walked right by her the first time.

This is my first Licca-chan doll since she's generally been kinda hard to get in the US. She's smaller than I expected, but no complaints, just makes her fun sized. The bendy arms and legs are fun and I appreciate the actual undies. Her hair is super soft, and I like how they've positioned her earrings--the hole is actually in her lobe.

Her packaging was delightfully easy, too. Give me plastic around the head over tags into the head any day. I also thought it was really nice that they put plastic sleeve on her arms to prevent staining, even tho the black on her sleeves is only on one side. Protection from the seams, I suppose.

All in all, I'm in love. I probably won't get an army of Liccas, but there's definitely a place for a few in my collection!

New DC dolls!

So, my Walmart had the new DC girlies in tonight and, well I'm a sucker. I was thrilled to see that none of them looked crosseyed like in the stock pics. Cat woman was my favorite from the start, although Harley also looked good (but if I get Harley I have to get her girlfriend and I want spending that much or feeling Ivy).

She's got the average articulation we've come to expect and feels pretty solid. Her top and skirt are one piece, unfortunately, but her fishnets are full length tights. The painted details really elevate her boots, and she's got nice soft hair with a touch too much product in it-- feels like nylon. I found it interesting that they made her mask and cat ears into one piece. It's a little disappointing because you can't have just the cat ears, but everything sits really well so I'm not going to complain.

The stand is pretty basic, but it does the job, and better than some stands I've seen recently.

I still feel like $40 is a bit much, but it's probably just the economy. She's a little bit below the recent collector ILYs, but not by much, and she's got nicer hair than the Holograms ( the other recent acquisition I've had around this price point). Overall, I am very pleased, and I love that her design can be seen as a reference to several different catwomen over the years!

Challenge Theme: Met Gala

The girls are ready!

First up, we have Jewel in a fetching number created for a past challenge but refreshed and brought down to earth, in spite of the celestial sparkles.

Next up, Iris sports a practical reworking of the iconic rainbow spring dress from the show. Nothing like rainbow chainmaille for armored elegance!

Last but not least we have the iconic Scarlet in the very latest! Sporting a barely there sheer ensemble with entirely too many handstrung beads, she is one slip away from a wardrobe malfunction and doesn't care! Jagged tulle and combat boots give a punk flair, while draped beads add definition and an amazonian toughness!

(Last pic is all three together for the end of month slideshow)

(All pieces designed and made by yours truly)

Just some restyles

Decided to see how the airbrush colors washed out and these girlies got new fits as a result! Lamb is rocking the goth look while Rhea is going with an edgy pink. These two really are gorgeous!

I am pleased to report that the airbrushed color came out of Rhea's hair quite well and I was able to get it out of all the clothes as well. Took a little scrubbing, but given that it had been there for months I was pleasantly surprised.

Spectra!

Found this space girl on the thrift and finally got her washed up! Her chrome is in pretty good shape except her feet, and a bit of conditioner worked wonders on her hair. She didn't have a ton in the way of clothes, but this outfit from barbie deluxe style #7 was perfect for her out of this world style!

Hubby is forcing me to leave the house today instead of curling into a depression spiral. Daria volunteered to be my travel buddy today. She's usually very well mannered but apparently she's got a weakness for Baja blast🩷💚

Ma boi arrived today (courtesy of a wonderful hubby) and I'm in love!

They did such a good job on him and I especially love his face, like his face says everything is gonna be okay and that's an energy we need right now
