Experiences with tree nuts having peanut allergy?

I’ve had a peanut allergy since I was like 2 and ever since I was little I avoided tree nuts too “just in case.” I was recently tested, however, and I’m NOT allergic to tree nuts, which I’m feeling pretty hyped about.

I know I’ll definitely be adding foods processed in the same facility as tree nuts to my diet, but I’m admittedly still a little nervous about tree nuts themselves. I’ve heard they can come into cross contact with peanuts. But I don’t know how much of that is rumor and how much of it is truth.

So I’m looking for the anecdotes of other peanut allergy havers! Do you eat tree nuts? Have you ever had a reaction to peanuts because of them, or have you been fine? Are there any tree nut brands out there that specifically don’t manufacture peanuts as well?

I was in disbelief

There’s a pair of young dogs I walk every weekday— a Goldendoodle and a puppy I don’t know the exact breed of but who seems to be at least part Rottweiler. They’re hyperactive but never seem to get up to TOO much trouble… so you can imagine my absolute shock when I walked into the house today and found THIS.

It looked like a tornado ran through the kitchen! I was amazed they were able to make such a big mess! I almost didn’t even know how to react.

At first I thought they’d eaten a whole COUCH. Turns out it was just the dog bed they’d ripped up. I’m stunned there was that much foam in a dog bed, though! It was enough to fill three trash bags!

At the end of the day it wasn’t too bad to clean up and I’m just glad the dogs weren’t hurt and that nothing seriously valuable was destroyed… but I still wanted to share because of how unreal the experience felt. When I first saw it I didn’t even know what to THINK.

(P.S. Please no one make nasty or rude comments about the dogs or their breeds on this post. They certainly caused a good amount of trouble but both I and their owner love them very much and I don’t want anyone to be mean to them. They’re very sweet dogs)

Do you feel a special connection with the Pokémon that Mystery Dungeon assigned you?

And to be clear I don’t just mean do you feel especially fond of that mon. Moreso I mean do they feel like a part of who you are? Ingrained into your identity in some way?

Explorers of Time was my first Pokemon game and one of the first games I ever beat. And because of that I do think I feel that way about the mon it assigned me, Skitty. I almost don’t know how to articulate it fully but it really feels like it represents me in my mind.

Does anyone else feel that way about the Pokemon that PMD assigned them? If so, how old were you when you played Mystery Dungeon? Do you think that played a factor in it? And do you feel that way about multiple Pokemon you’ve played as, or just the first?

Any other east coast dog walkers suffering from the smoke?

It’s so bad outside it’s literally crazy. Maybe I’m just weak or whatever but even being outside for just a few minutes despite wearing a mask will make my chest hurt. And if it’s that bad for me, I cant imagine how bad it is for the dogs. Absolutely terrible.

I’m trying to keep walks as brief as possible, but I have tons of bookings today and so I’m going through it. Anyone else in the same boat?

Oreo Cakesters?

For a while now I’ve wanted to try Oreo Cakesters but wasn’t able to because the ingredients section always said that they may contain peanuts (and tree nuts).

However, recently my grandmother brought home a large box of them, as opposed to the individual packaged Cakesters I’ve seen at convenience stores. And for some mysterious reason this box does NOT have the “may contain” warning on it.

Does anyone know if there was some sort of manufacturing change so that it’s safe to have them now? Or are things the same and they just label the large boxes differently?

ADHD and poor long term memory?

Recently I saw a Twitter post where someone joked about how they feel like all of their ADHD friends have awful short term memory but good long term memory. If I recall correctly they said something about certain words activating people with ADHD like sleeper agents as they suddenly recall something that happened years ago.

Obviously, Twitter is not a website full of experts on mental health, and for all I know that’s not the usual ADHD experience. But that got me thinking, and it does seem like a lot of my friends with ADHD do in fact have a good long term memory and are able to remember weird facts they learned forever ago with the right prompting.

I don’t have this experience. My long term memory is exceptionally poor.

I read online that a big factor in people with ADHD sometimes having memory issues is that their brains don’t properly form the memory in the first place. But I know that’s not the case with me. There are things I know I properly remembered at some point and just… forgot.

Basic plot points of pieces of media that were at one point my special interest— things that I knew inside and out. Details of my own writing. Stuff that I’m certain I was aware of, but somehow forgot anyways.

I recall almost nothing about high school and even less about middle school. I don’t even remember how many middle schools I attended.

And it’s not just something that happens over a long period of time. I have a distinct memory (…ironically) of being in third grade at the end of the year and just kind of sitting there thinking that I remembered NOTHING about the year. Even though it had just happened.

I asked my friends about it and only one other friend with ADHD could relate… but he also has a dissociative disorder, so he admitted he’s not the best example, because there’s other reasons for his memory problems.

Is this level of poor long term memory normal for ADHD? Or is it something I should be concerned about/trying to find other explanations for?

My current (and biggest) project!

Slowly but surely chipping away at a sprite of Sectonia from Kirby Triple Deluxe. I’ve finished the abdomen and upper body now, but still have to make and iron the wings, hands, and the rest of her collar.

She’s massive. Even being made with mini fuse beads she’s still going to be, like, a foot tall. Can’t wait to hang this monster on my wall.

Images of the different forms of Stacy Mutant?

Currently I’m working on a Mewgenics animatic. For one of the shots I need to depict several of the Stacy Mutant boss fights. However, there doesn’t appear to be a reliable archive with references of them online. Even the wiki is pretty bare bones.

Now… I COULD go through the lab two dozen times and hope to encounter Stacy as the boss, but that sounds… tedious at best. So I figured I’d make a request.

Next time you go to the lab, if you encounter Stacy, can you take a picture of her for me, then share it here? It would be a huge help!

I don’t need references of EVERY single Stacy. I know there’s hundreds of combos. About eight of them should do. Ideally showcasing lots of different mutations she can have.

I managed to get Eternal Youth on my alien!

The other day I asked about achieving such a thing and I wanted to let everyone know it worked! I actually got it pretty easily too. I had several Cat Ribs and was prepared to do multiple runs if needed. But using the Ultra Vision 3000 and Magic Mirror I was lucky enough to get it on my first run.

What I did was a two-cat run to try and maximize the chances of the alien being the one present for the fountain event. I’d have tried a solo run but I was nervous the alien wouldn’t be able to handle fights on her own, so I brought a really good Hunter with her, and thankfully the alien was the one who ended up being chosen for the event.

I love this little baby :) very happy to have her in my house.

Form of the Squirrel is so insanely good on Monks

SERIOUSLY. Not only do you get to use Chitter twice a turn, but there are tons of Monk abilities that basically revolve around giving you even more uses of your basic attack. A personal favorite of mine is Fist of Fate combined with the passive that makes it so your basic attack is used whenever you move. Because then for each proc of Fist of Fate you use Chitter TWICE. And if you’re lucky with the upgraded Fist of Fate sometimes that’ll happen like six times.

I just had a really good run going. Not only did I have a Hunter with Scattershot, Rubber Arrows and Super Luck, but I also had a Necromancer with Immortal Leeches and Numbing Leeches.

…And both of those super busted cats barely got to do anything because my Monk equipped with the Steven item that makes a clone of you that copies your basic attack whenever you use a spell was on the field. So I could summon like six clones of that cat with a cheap spell (Anneal in this specific instance) then sextuple the amount of buffs my squirrels got. So the squirrels just killed everything before my other cats could get to it.

It’s a combo I’ve been so consistently impressed with that I actively breed for Form of the Squirrel and always make my Form of the Squirrel users Monks. Because oh my gosh. It’s a combo I feel like I haven’t seen a lot of people talk about, but it’s completely cracked.

Had an insanely funny fight against the final boss on hard mode

I was doing a run on hard mode, meaning bosses, including the “good” version of my cats summoned during the first phase of the boss had elite buffs.

Except THREE OUT OF THE FOUR CATS spawned in with the Madness buff, meaning I just kind of got to sit there, hang back and watch while they tore each other to shreds.

…What are the ODDS of that, even? I’m not good at math but it seems so phenomenally unlikely that I’m kind of amazed. I wish I’d gotten a screenshot.

My island so far! How many Miis do you recognize?

The first one, the ninth through thirteenth, and the third one on the top left with bright orange hair are OCs, but everyone else is a canon character from something. I like to think I’ve incorporated a pretty fun mix of things!
