Has anybody received an offer for several months free of the Sports Pack?

Has anybody receive an offer for several months free of the Sports Pack recently?

I got a pop-up for it last night when I logged into my account. It stated that I would get 4 months of the Sports Pack add-on for free as a thank you for being a loyal customer. Once I clicked on the accept button, I got a follow up message that stated I would see it in my account in the next 1-2 weeks, which I'm guessing coincides with the beginning of the NFL season for 2026.

Kind of interesting, since I have never seen a promo like this show up before in such a way.

What do you consider a GOOD (if not GREAT) electric rate right now? Looking to sign up long term (24-36 months) but not sure about rates.

Good morning, fellow Houstonians!

As the title says, it's renewal time for us and I'm looking to sign up long term (24-36 months) but not sure what to consider a GOOD (if not GREAT) electric rate right now? Is 11.5-12c/kWh (all in = provider rate per kWh + TDU rate) good for such a term?

I'm checking with the usual suspects sites and have found powertofail.org to be the better one when trying to get info on providers and historical rates.

Thanks in advance for your feedback! And yes, I know Centerpoint sucks (LOL), but let's try to keep it clean and to the point during this conversation 😄 .

Strange issue with "new" 5Gbps service

I previously had 5Gbps service with ATT and was paying $150+ per month, so after new pricing went live a couple of weeks ago, I called and tried to get it lowered. Best they could do was lower it $20/month, making it $125 and change. I called a couple of other times to see if my luck would change but that didn't work, so I decided to cancel and sign up for a new account and was able to get the new, much lower pricing of $70/month for the same service.

"New" service install day was today (my "old" service was canceled/fully disconnected on Friday 7/3 at 6am) and things went relatively OK. The installer was on time and yadda, yadda, yadda. He commented that he didn't have to do anything at the main box a block away because everything was already set up for the 5Gbps service. He proceeded to install the new gateway (RG) (same model I had before, BGW620-700), tested the existing fiber cable I have been using all along and it passed all testing, so he left it in place. He completed the service registration and the gateway was online and ready to go, but this is where things started to unravel... The speeds weren't getting where they needed to be, particularly the download one, averaging 1800-2000Mbps, while the upload kept chugging along checking in at 3000-3200Mbps, which wasn't bad, but not what I'm used to.

With my "old" service, all speed test readings at the RG-level were ticking at 4600-4900Mbps (I'm talking about ATT-to-ATT here, so chill), with sometimes upwards to 5200Mbps down/up, BUT that isn't the case with this "new" service. The download speeds are dismal right now and have deteriorated hourly during the last 6+ hours after the tech left, barely making it to 500Mbps, while the upload speeds are "better" at 3300-3500Mbps, but still nowhere near where they need AND should be. And well, real life testing is subpar as well and all over the place even when using the usual, reliable suspects that typically provide good testing data/results.

Before he left (after 2+ hours here), the told me that the system needed to "train itself and download some updates for the box" and that I should see full speeds after a couple hours (give or take by 6pm CDT), so to take it easy and just be patient. I'm normally cool as a cucumber (LOL) but this thing has just not improve at all and instead, things have gotten much worse, so not a happy camper.

Since nothing has technically changed besides the new RG being set up, what do you guys think could be going on here? I may be wrong but I think the issue most likely is that this new RG he set up is a lemon.

I'll be calling support first thing in the morning as well as the tech and his supervisor (they gave me their numbers).

Looking forward to reading your opinions on this.

PQ diff between DTV Stream and regular DTV over internet?

Hi all!

Is there any obvious PQ difference between DTV Stream and regular DTV over internet?

The former is very crisp and smooth, while the latter is clearly more pixelated and stutters in high speed scenes or sports.

Same device, same TV, same internet connection. A bit puzzled here.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for replacement for DirecTV Stream

As the title says, I’m looking for a replacement for DTVS for my elderly in-laws (88M, 76F).

With the crazy price increase PLUS the removal of monthly credits and Perks, the price of the package I have set up for them will sky rocket an extra almost $50/month, which they cannot afford anymore.

What good options are out there that would be user-friendly for people that age? A “normal” remote is almost a must-have given some limited-motion issues my FIL is dealing with.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!
