Best renter-friendly ways to improve sound privacy through an office door?
Hi all — I’m trying to improve speech privacy in a rented office without making major or permanent modifications.
The main issue seems to be the door, which has glass panes plus gaps around the sides and underneath. I can’t replace the door or alter the walls/frame, so I’m looking for removable or minimally invasive options.
I’ve been considering rubber/neoprene perimeter seals, a door sweep or automatic drop seal, and possibly an acoustic curtain/blanket.
What would give me the biggest improvement in keeping conversations from being intelligible in the hallway? I’d especially appreciate specific product recommendations that actually work acoustically.
If I’m prioritizing, should I tackle air gaps first, then the bottom of the door, then add mass/absorption?
Thank you! I should also mention there will be white noise machines both in and outside of the office.
