I was thinking last night how in metal, people still love older artists, which includes young people liking older artists within the genre. Metal also seems to have nostalgia cycles where bands from the past 20 years later get big again, and their respective genres influences are then incorporated into contemporary metal artists.
We saw it with 80s metal nostalgia in the mid to late 00s, and we are seeing it again today with early 00s nu metal. And often within the metal community people often get into sub genres and treat it like a family tree and tend to go back through all those influences and will display them on patches etc.
Whereas hip-hop (which has passed its commercial and cultural peak, just like metal did) only ever seems to have a large focus on its newer artists, with very little nostalgia or major reference to older eras. Be that in the younger fanbase or by the artists themselves.
I just wondered why people think this is ?
Is it that metal is less inventive now than hip-hop? Or is that not the case and its perhaps that metal music ages better ? Or something entirely different.

I used to play the original STALKER on PC back in the day, as well as some very well modded versions with upgraded graphics when I revisited it.
I dont have a PC these days. But I do have a PS5. I've waited a while as I assumed the game would be a bugfest on release.
Stalker 2 on PSN store is currently £20. Unfortunately physical copies are nearly £40 online.
Is STALKER 2 good like the original? And is the PS5 version good? As I assume like always, it was probably originally made for PC.

Why are they on holiday and doing nothing?
One of the things I find hardest as I try to get into Buddhism when meditating in loving kindness, and just the general view/approach to people is being positive to those you dislike.
I don't like many people, ive been let down and hurt by many which leaves me feeling anger, distrust and so on. So I find it hard when it comes to thinking well of people when I feel people are often not good, and cause me emotional pain. I used to try see the best in people, and try always with them but I can't do it as I've gotten older.
I feel very resistant to this area of Buddhist practice.
How do others get past this?
I'll never know how they were not bigger. Every album was great. No bands around at this time really sounded like them, their contemporaries were Baroness, Kylesa and Mastodon. I can find more commonalities between those acts, Torche had the guitar sound of those artists at their most raw but blended it with psychedelic janes addiction meets the beatles vocal catchiness. Their earlier sound was rawer, they leaned into mixing genres more as they went on, largely successfully in my view.
Considering this was their final album, in my view one of their best (they achieved a perfect cross over between sludge metal, shoegaze and catchy vocal.harmonies).
Ill never understand how they weren't bigger.
