Danced for three hours straight at a beach meetup yesterday so my legs are now jello!

90s(?) movie where a kid obsessively films everything, including his mom dying slowly, and dad connects with him by watching his clips back at the end

I have a vivid memory of walking into the room when this movie was on TV when I was a young kid in the 90s. The little boy in it would film everything and I think the dad (and maybe others?) kind of shunned him and found him weird for it. The mom gets sick with cancer (I think?) and eventually dies. I think she passes in a chair in the house?
At the funeral, the boy is still walking around and filming everything so the dad gets super angry and slaps the camera.
At the end, I remember the boy sitting in a viewing room by himself, playing back all the video he has captured from when the mom was alive. His dad walks in, seems to realize how valuable this footage is for them, and sits with him to keep watching.

This movie seriously messed me up in (I think?) a good way and has stuck with me my whole life. Help!

Bummed that I tore my calf and can’t dance for a while, so sharing a very short clip from a recent meetup to remind myself that I’ll get back to this again soon
