Istanbul with the X100VI + Viltrox WCL

Just wanted to share some recent shots from my short trip to Istanbul with the X100VI

All of them are shot with Viltrox wcl on and edited in lightroom.

Mostly street photography with a few touristy shots. Hope you will enjoy them!

Went out for 10 mins.

Had to run out for about 10 15 mins and decided to take my x100vi with me.

I took these 3 shots and nothing more and I am really happy I had a camera with me.

I've had 6 hour photo walks that produced nothing I liked.

Lit a pitch-black abandoned gas station using the Zhiyun M60U RGB and M40SE

Hey everyone!

Wanted to share a recent night shoot at an abandoned gas station with zero working lights.

We had to create the entire atmosphere from scratch, and these compact Zhiyun LEDs made the whole setup super portable and fast.

How I set up the lighting:

Key & Mood Light: Used the Zhiyun M60U RGB to cast the deep blue tones across the subject, the Vespa, and the station's metal structure.

Background Fill: Used the Zhiyun M40SE placed low near the pumps for a warm background glow, creating that teal-and-orange color contrast.

Camera Gear: Nikon Zf with the 28mm f/2.8, 40mm f/2, and 105mm f/2.8 macro for close-up details.

I’ve included the final edited shots along with two BTS frames at the end to show how dark the location actually was before turning on the lights.

Let me know what you think of the setup and color grading! Happy to answer any technical questions.

Nikon ZF + Abandoned gas station.

Hello fam!

Wanted to share a recent project where I pushed the Nikon Zf in extreme low-light conditions. My first time doing an actual shoot. (I do almost exclusively street)

We found an old, abandoned gas station with no lights on, so we had to build the entire mood using a couple of handheld compact LEDs.

The Zf handled the dynamic range and low-light focus surprisingly well, especially considering we were shooting handheld. The detail rendering on the 105mm macro for close-ups (rings, helmet, and mirror reflection) was incredible.

Decided to go for a dark neon like end result and I think it came out pretty great, but I really have no experience in this branch of photography.

Setup:

Body: Nikon Zf

Lenses: Nikkor Z 40mm f/2 & Nikkor Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S & Nikkor Z 28mm f2.8

Lighting: Zhiyun M60U RGB & Zhiyun M40SE

M60U was main light, M40SE provided the warm spill on the gas station

Tripod: SmallRig used for lights

Included shoots from behind the scene to get a feel of how dark it actualy was.

Would love to hear what fellow Zf / Nikon users think of the result and would welcome any advice for future shoots. Hope you like it!

First try at some product macro

Shot with the Nikon Zf + Nikkor Z MC 105mm f/2.8.

I usually think of the Zf more as a street/documentary camera, but I finally decided to use the 105MC for some close up shots.

The 105 is incredible for these kind of shots and sooo sharp, but lighting the watch properly is a lot harder than I expected. To control the brutal reflections on the crystal, I used a portable LED light from Zhiyun and kept moving it around until the crystal reflections disappeared. Also used some water in some of the shots to create a mirror of the watch.

Last photo is the behind the scenes. Since I only had one tripod, used a second camera that shall not be named to position the light.

Really curious what you guys think of the end results and if anybody has advice for these kind of shots. Both setup as well as maybe settings, technique. In some shots the depth of field is a bit shallow.

Thanks for reading and appreciate any input!

Edit: they are pretty much SOOC with Documentary Chrome recipee by u/filmstill__

What is an unusual focal you enjoy for street?

Hello fellow shooters!

I was wondering what focal lengths you enjoy using for street photography outside of the usual mainstream choices like 28mm, 35mm and 50mm and why.

My less common choice lately has been the Nikon Z MC 105mm f/2.8, used on a Nikon Zf. My other lenses are the Nikon 28mm f/2.8 and 40mm f/2, so the 105mm is definitely a very different way of seeing.

Getting there was honestly a bit of an internal debate. When I first started shooting, I used an 85mm equivalent on APS-C and really enjoyed the compression. Later on, I started missing that look, especially on days with flat light.

I considered the Nikon 85mm f/1.8 S, but in the end I went with the 105mm macro instead. No regrets so far.

It’s not the most practical focal length for street, and it definitely takes some getting used to when coming from 28mm and 40mm, but when it works, I really love the compression, distance and isolation it gives.

Some of my 105mm street shots attached as a thank you for your time.

Curious to hear what less common focal lengths you enjoy using for street photography.
