"Retired" groom about to start lessons - give me your best recs for a basic breech, sock, boot, shirt, helmet?

Hi! I was a grand prix/olympic dressage groom but most of my riding experience is actually in reining!

I found an excellent little stable nearby that does lessons up to level 2 and I am so excited to start. I want to treat myself with a "starter" outfit, so a helmet, shirt, breech, sock, and boot. Do you have recommendations for affordable but nice looking clothes to start a girl out? I'm located in the US if that helps.

Also, any tips on controlling hair under your helmet? I never wore one as a reiner but I want to look put together and like I kinda belong there haha. I have thick, straight, shoulder length hair that I do not use product on.

Thank you soooo much for any tips. This gal is pretty stoked!

Favorite trail (or road!) half or full marathons in Rocky Mtn region US?

Hi! I'm training for a 100k and although I'm an experienced runner I have only run in one other organized race event! My fiance brought up that it might be a good idea to do a handful of hm's or marathons at races to get used to crowds, noise, aid stations, etc. I'm actually really stoked about the idea of this and wanted to ask the slaydies here what your favorite trail hm's or marathons are that are relaxed and focus on a fun atmosphere:) I'm open to road race ideas too if they are super fun!

POV: you have seven girls but they all have a cookie and there is finally peace.

A sweet breath of air before the destruction begins yet again ♡

Intro-ed ☆ Enriched ☆ I am ready for bed lol

Today is a night to go to bed early, whooo doggy this took all day! My next project is figuring out how to safely and securely attach the playpen to the cage since right now I have to carry them to the playpen.

I spent a long time looking up if fresh willow is okay and I'm faaairrlllyyyy certain it's fine! It adds such a nice touch to the final product and I think they like nosing their way through it:)

Successful intros are complete, I only have one rat cage to look after for the first time in like... months lol

My sweet baby Ruth is too gentle for intros lol

She's made of tissue paper at heart. She is a lucky pluck from a feeder bin about two months ago and nearly died twice from a nasty URI that she came home with when she was only 6 weeks old. She was the most fearful of the group of babies until I hand-fed her daily when she was too weak to eat and gave her meds and sang to her every day hoping he would survive.

Now I think I made her a little soft haha. She's not used to mom leaving her to fend for herself instead of swooping in to help ♡♡♡ sweet little Ruth, you will be okay!

Day two of intros! I think they will be ready for the single CN by tomorrow!

I swear every single one of these girls are angels. This is my third time doing intros as a rat owner and first time with such a large group (8). They moved into the larger cage a few hours ago this morning after spending all last night in a teeny hamster cage. Nothing but a few grooming squeaks all night, it's like they've always lived together. Later today if they are still good they will get a hide and a hammock:) I love them all so much, it bring me so much joy to see these little personalities finally all meeting!

I have had two groups of four for a while now - The older girls are a rehome/rescue situation that needed a full month of quarantine to treat lice, URI's and obesity. The younger ones are all feeders that I've had for about three months. I know they sound sneezy, I gave them bedding that's a little more dusty than I usually tolerate and am running out to get a mesh laundry hamper right now to sift some to replace this bedding with.

Hi!

I was recently diagnosed with systemic (or diffuse) scleroderma. Basically, my internal organs and skin produce too much tissue. I'm going all next week to a clinic, every day next week will be filled with tests and procedures to see how advanced it is.

I also signed up for Javelina Jundred. I'm very, very determined to just make it over the finish line... heck, I'm determined to make it over the starting line. But recently, dealing with the stress of working full-time, taking care of pets (I have a dog and 8 rats haha), planning my wedding, and training has been a LOT. It almost feels like this year is turning into a race itself that I'm simply trying to finish, and I'm starting to not enjoy it all, even though I'm so grateful and thrilled with my and my partner's life.

I KNOW that putting in the hours will pay off, it already is. I KNOW that the wedding, the race, and the medical struggles will be worth it, but I also know that this disease may just as well kill me, and the juxtaposition between everyday life and the determinantion that comes with training for an ultra paired with deep medical fear is resulting in depression/burnout.

Idk if I'm looking for advice or just venting somewhere I think I will be understood - I guess either is fine. I just set a mile PR and am feeling stronger on trails than I ever have. But I just can't get out of my head.

Your thoughts and kindness are appreciated. I really enjoy this sub and am very grateful for it. Pics attached from my favorite trail runs:)
