Are we in a new RPG lul?

It seems like we've been spoiled in recent years and the whole industry was revolving around RPGs with many acclaimed releases. But 2026 has been pretty light in terms of at least critically acclaimed titles.

If you love all RPGs this might not be as much of a problem for you, but if you're picky it seems too risky to buy a game you might drop after 10 minutes. Free trials are a nice compromise because you can try it with no risk but pretty much every game I've tried this way I dropped so suspicions confirmed.

Is there anything under the radar right now that I'm missing? Mina the Hollower has great reviews but looking at the game play I couldn't picture myself enjoying the bit aesthetic although Undertale was fine

Poll: which class are you playing this season?

I don't know why this sub doesn't allow polls but please respond in the comments with the class you're playing this (upcoming) season

Any unlisted changes from data mining?

I had a kind of "meh" reaction to the update because I'm not the target audience for the ferry stone thing since I thought that lack of fast travel was good in the first place.

It seems like from the balance side of things they've only made the game easier by making some items cheaper, gold rewards higher and ferry stones an item you can sell for a lot.

Given the game has been out for a long time I don't think making it easier improves its longevity although there's not a lot of gold changes so maybe it's not that significant

This made me wonder if they had done any hidden changes that people found in the code. Sometimes developers are more reluctant to announce nerfs and it would be cool if they were playing with the overall balance

How does ambrosia work? No one accepts

Obviously with necter you can just give it whatever but none of the NPCs have the option to gift ambrosia and the few that do end up refusing. What do I need to do?

First of all I don't know how strong it is so if it completely trivializes the game and turns it to story mode I wouldn't want to

But the general thing I was speculating about is that IF the build system in Hades 2 is fun enough to make multiple runs a must, then I wondered if doing the first one on god mode makes the overall trajectory more satisfying.

Im having fun as it is right now but I couldn't help but consider how to get something out of a feature when I encounter it
