Is this a good time to apply for voluntary internships?

Recently saw a post na some companies can't hire "voluntaries" dahil internship season pa raw po. I just wanna ask if this is generally true for IT companies around metro manila or pili lang po ito?

I'm planning to try and apply for a voluntary internship this september/october after ng final defense. Para po sana magkaron ng extra experience before our actual ojt sa curriculum next sem.

Any internship advice or company reccomendations?

Internship season na po namin soon, and I have no idea what to prepare or how to prepare. If possible, gusto ko po talaga sana ng environment where i can learn f2f and be around real people lol.

Most seniors just go with our college partners. Ang issue ko lang po dito is they are mostly online and idk... modular? They seem to do lots of modules and online courses for their internship and have rankings and stuff by the end of their run. Cinoconsider ko rin naman po ito, but id really prefer onsite internships.

What are the things i should practice for, study, or prepare? I have a few hackathon projects, but I dont have any impressive feat for my CV/portfolio yet. Idk if that would matter.

Also, if you have any company recommendations, that would be much appreciated! Preferably in QC or Pampanga (or near these places). Thank you po!

How do you take ownership of your product kung most of its brunt work is by AI?

This is more personal than technical, but do yall even feel proud of your projects even if AI did most of it? Parang unhealthy attachment din to sa projects on my part (which are supposed to be maintained with professionalism), so i guess another question is how do you compartmentalize?

4th year IT. Im currently working on our final system. Im having a kind of disillusionment about IT work itself cuz of AI. Hahahaha AI is really here to stay, and Im feeling the dread of it. Medyo stacked yung system namin at medyo proud ako sa contribution ko. I think it also gives me a good bullet point for my CV, but personally, parang empty work cuz I had to use AI to speed up everything.

Ang naging workflow ko rito is parang heavily supervised planning using Claude and using multiple chinese models for execution. Im still touching the codebase kapag critical, and I did some parts of it on my own. Pero with encouragement na rin ng buong group, kailangan din talaga ng AI to speed up the progress. Di ko man lang naenjoy yung ginagawa ko hahahaha. I also did this in an mvp for an ideathon. Same pattern: ako sa planning, and AI for most of the execution. Same reason: for productivity.

Now I fear Id be stuck with this kind of work, since parang ito na yung standard na pinopromote online...

Prototype vs Post-Prototype Discussions in Hackathons/Ideathons

Hello! Would wanna ask some advice from those with experience in these 'thons. This may depend on the criteria and the competition, pero generally, how do yall discuss in ur docus what needs to be done AFTER the prototype?

Kailangan bang mala business plan ito with step by step actions from the prototype stage, realistic, or just whatever do you want (that's still feasible, and actually relevant sa proposal mo)?

Also, around what time po kaya ang bukas ng MRT and bus stations around these places? Thank youu po!

Is Java still worth it?

Turning 4th year next sem, and thinking of consolidating the tech stack under my belt. Our dept is holding certification exams. My dilemma is whether to still pay (money, time, effort) for a Java cert cos idk if it's still employable (and fun).

I am more inclined to go deep on Python and JS - and probably Kotlin for android dev - but I hear a lot of good opportunities for Java. Maganda naman yung experience ko rito from my early subjs, pero stuck na rin kasi for like 2 sems.

Thoughts on PKM as a Programmer?

Been seeing a resurgence of Obsidian setups for quite a while now. Probably because of automation trends rn? idk.

What are your thoughts on this? Like personally, do you find these things useful for retention and whatnot as a programmer?

for context, im an incoming 4th year student currently on break and doing our capstone already. im having trouble deciding whether i should just work on our capstone, do the side projects i have in mind, and try new languages... OR find and invest my time in VA work.

had a few unsuccessful tries on VA work already and i felt like it would take much of my time to learn. now, i can manage capstone work with this, but my side projects would basically be goners.

im pretty desperate to earn personal income too, but i dont wanna risk graduating with nothing under my belt.
