My partner and I decided on taking a last minute vacation over the memorial day weekend/my birthday and ended up settling on La Casa de La Playa, and honestly it may have ruined all future vacations for us. We booked very last minute and thankfully found a good rate offered through a discount site that my work is affiliated with. A few days before traveling the concierge reached out asking questions about our transportation needs and any requests for activities that we would like to do there. They also sent along the menus for the restaurants on property as well the spa menu. They required reservations for dinner be made 24hrs in advance, but we felt this strange.
Upon arrival in the canun airport we quickly found the Xcaret transportation office and they rapidly whisked us to the waiting Tesla for the 45 minute ride to the resort. We were greeted by our butler upon arrival and quickly completed check in formalities in the beautiful open air lobby that looks out over the stunning Caribbean Sea. We had a late lunch at Xal, and were the only ones in the whole restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing and the portion sizes were small allowing you to try many of the offerings. Each meal started with a welcome drink which were all unique and delicious, with a 50/50 split between alcoholic/non-alcoholic.
We had meals at all the restaraunts on property, and can say that we enjoyed them all. We felt the need to have reservations was not necessary as there were never more than a handful of people at each location. We were thankful for the one reservation that our butler made for us at Tai-Xido in Arte as it was very busy there.
Our room was an oceanview that was simply stunning. Every single detail about this place was well thought out and designed smartly. One minor compliant that many seem to have is that the plunge pools in the rooms tend to be on the colder side, but we spent minimal time in there. The two main pools were incredible and never had a fight for a place to sit.
Staff at Casa de La Playa are second to none. They truly made this vacation what it was. Anything and everything that you could as for was taken care of swiftly and with ease. Never a few minutes went by at the pools without staff checking on us and if we needed refills or more food. They went out of their way to see what they could do to help make our vacation as best as it could be. They even arrainged a tour of the on-site jellyfish breeding operation which was incredibly impressive.
We did two half days at the Xcaret parks, and while I can say that we did enjoy our time there, they were not the highlights of our trip. At Xcaret we did the river swim twice. Once right after the park opened and it was peaceful and tranquil, and once a few hours later and it was incredibly busy and felt borderline unsafe with how many people were in a cave at once. Another afternoon was spent at Xenses, and this was truly a unique experience, and we are glad we went. It was not crowded at all, and i cannot recommend it enough if staying at the Xcaret hotels.
All in all, one of the best vacations ive ever taken. It was absolutely worth the price of what they are charging, and not once did i feel like i didnt get my monies worth out of my vacation. I only had a very few minor criticisms and that were dealt with by the staff when they came up. If you get a chance to try La Casa de La Playa i cannot recommend it enough, and I cant wait to plan my next trip which will hopefully be a little longer.

Bought a new VXOne last week and am in love with the boat. With the first world championship here next year looking forward to getting up to speed. Great time for anyone to join the class!
Seeing as how the run club is as popular as it is was wondering if anyone was thinking of doing group paddles? We have so many miles of waterways that’s a great for getting out on! I go nearly daily right now, usually at sunrise but try to time it so tide is taking me back to where I start.
