What are you all using for your overlays in your videos?

I have a GoPro Hero 9 and an AiM Solo 2. Race Render is junk IMHO and Telemetry Overlay is a ripoff, so do any of you use free versions? Or are these really the only options?

Would love help interpreting these dyno results

I took my '87 325i to the dyno a few months ago, I wanted to share the results in case the results are subpar or surprising to anyone.

Peak HP at the wheels was about 153-154. Panzer digital AFM, Turner performance chip. I'm pretty happy with this result, but I wanted to make sure it seemed reasonable to you all. I've read elsewhere that 160+ is the expectation for stock. If that's the case, it appears I have some motor health issues I should address.

Considering a work wagon setup for race weekends and would love some input

I have a BMW E30 that I race several weekends throughout the summer, sometimes towing up to 600 miles round-trip. I've been using U-Haul for the time being since I'm new, but I'm quickly growing weary of it. A lot of folks use pickup trucks and enclosed trailers, but I'm hoping to stick with a more compact/lightweight setup with some sort of cargo van that can tow an open trailer.

My vision is tools, spare parts, tires, and fuel cans in the back of the cargo van, then an open trailer with the E30 strapped to it. Then I can potentially throw down a sleeping pad or mattress to camp at the race track when necessary.

I don't need anything fancy, so a 15-20k used cargo van is definitely in the budget. I guess the bigger issue I'm facing is the low mileage/year and insurance costs that might make it not worth it.

I searched and didn't find anyone discussing race weekend logistics in this sub, so I wanted to reach out and see what others thought. Thanks!

Looking to join an activist group, any recommendations?

I’m fed up with the lack of progress and the outrageous budgeting issues with Sound Transit. I’m a strong advocate for them, but I want to join others in the quest for a more functional system and dedicate my time and skills to the task. Does anyone have any recommendations? Obviously I did a quick google search to find a few such as Transportation Choices, Smarter Transit, and Seattle Subway, but I’m not sure how many of them are active and if they’re effective.

Thank you.

First race weekend complete, but I'm already looking for U-HAUL as an urban dweller

What's good everyone,

A while back, I made a post about the logistics of racing/tracking while in a city, Seattle in my case. I've found a spot to work and store on the car and love it. I've tracked the car a number of times, and successfully completed my first race weekend this past weekend.

With that said, I've been using a U-HAUL pickup and vehicle trailer to get to and from the track. It's taking up a considerable amount of my racing budget, and is frankly inconvenient and overpriced, especially with recurring use with lots of miles.

I live in an apartment and share a vehicle with my partner, a hybrid SUV without vehicle towing capacity. Changing residence to have a large garage/driveway is a nonstarter, as is having our only vehicle being a pickup truck.

I don't need anything fancy, but it's starting to become a burden. I'm thinking about perhaps getting storage for a used pickup truck and trailer that I just use for racing, but that's a lot of time where it's not utilized. I've looked into other rental services, but I haven't found anything that beats the pricing of U-HAUL.

I would love to hear people's opinions on this. Between truck and trailer maintenance, insurance, and storage, I wonder if I'll just be paying the same expenses while also being required to do maintenance on my own.

For context, I am a strong proponent of higher-density housing, more walkable streets, mixed use, etc.

That said, I am one of the world's biggest "the building" haters, to the point that I'd describe most of the new boxy townhomes to be a form of blight. It pains me to think that we're going to have to look at these for decades, maybe even a full century, and there is no sign of it stopping.

I've even started thinking about a career change and pursuing influence over development groups just so I can try and reverse this hideous trend. I'm not looking for flashy, but for god's sake, we have the most beautiful scenery to inspire us and we put out this code-optimized slop that are 60% stairwells and 0% character.
