Doomsayer Abel with the main cast

While Abel's only scene with the cast is iconic, he was originally scripted to appear three times with the teens, but they were removed to save time and streamline the movie's pacing.

According to the original script drafts and the novelization, Abel was supposed to appear again later in the film to warn Chris and Rick after their car breaks down. Surviving set photos and production contact sheets show that this second encounter was actually filmed, but it never made the final cut.

Unlike Crazy Ralph, Abel is the only doomsayer to not be killed by Jason.
