THE FNDRS - an experiment with illustration, character design and layout

THE FNDRS is a personal project I did two years ago. The goal was incorporating illustration, character design and layout in a single image and better train my eye for composition.

Three illustrations of individuals representing different personas within the Web3 universe. An expression of my experiences and observations in that space.

IGNIS - Brand Works

After some years away from graphic design and branding, I put up a personal project for a Brand Studio called IGNIS - the motif being fire, representing the heat and energy of a creative mind.

Bold typography for the logo to reinforce strength and presence; Paralucent and the good old Myrad Pro for a better reading experience. Red, Reddish Brown and Off White were decided in order to create some contrast without relying simply on black and white.

I'd like to hear some feedback/critique on this one. Just trying to shake off the rust on myself here. Thanks!

Made a poster of a deck for a friend

I was testing some design techniques and thought about doing a blueprint-inspired artwork of the tournament deck of a friend. To me that seems a nice way to immortalize a deck or a bey that is meaningful to the Blader.

The last two pics are mockups, not real. Would love to make them framed some day.

Made an unboxing video of Bullet Griffon H

Love this bey and it still holds up even in Hasbro stadium, although it's easier to win against. Any feedback is appreaciated.

Hasbro Circuit in Brazil

I want to leave this post here with the intention of publicly recording a small piece of Beyblade history in Brazil.

Brazil is the only country so far to have regional qualifiers organized by the community itself. Organizations from the states of Distrito Federal, Pernambuco, Pará, Santa Catarina, Bahia, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro were chosen to host the tournaments in what is called the "Hasbro Circuit," which will lead to the national championship.

Although states like Minas Gerais, which have a very large player base, were not chosen (which generated strong backlash against Hasbro), I consider this a great victory for the national Beyblade scene.

In the images, the official Hasbro Circuit post and some photos from the tournaments here in the state of Pará, through the Beyblade Pará League (LBPA).

Wizard Rod 1-60 T instead R

Some people use a more aggressive Wizrod using R or LR, but what about T? Wouldn’t it be more efficient since it gets some decent blows and X dashes and keeps stamina more than R/LR? Has someone tried it?

I always chuckle when I see this guy

I mean, look at his smirk, his so young voice in a so old body. These long nails and roots in the feet. How would one not recognize him again?

Choose Pazuzu (& Bonesy)

I've been watching "The Mountain, The Moon Cave and The Sad God" video several times a day because of my 1 yo son, who loved the animation.

Since then, I've been wanting to draw something related to Gorillaz, and I noticed that Pazuzu appears for a few frames in the video, so I found my subject for the art.

I never asked myself why Pazuzu is so present in Gorillaz's imagery, so I went to look it up and now I understand it better.

I wanted to add Bonesy simply because he's cute.

[OC] Developing my first IP

Had this idea two years ago: a team of mecha girls in spacesuits. Sci-fi mood. Let's see how it turns out. What are your thoughts about it?

Koromon paiting study

Using the underpaint technique to see how the underlying tones affect the colors. The underpaint is a layer of color to set the overall tone and to better check different values (blacks and whites).

From left to right: orange underpaint, blue and gray. Interesting to see how we can use the tones to convey the mood.

I recently saw some posts on X where some artists explain underpaint: when the artist applies a layer of paint in one color, usually orange or blue, to better define the tones of the painting.

As a test subject, I used Skullgreymon because I find his design very interesting and wanted to portray him with proportions similar to those of a real dinosaur, similar to the Greymon we saw in the first film from 1999.

I made a timelapse of the painting to share as paid content on my Patreon, coming soon.

Imagine you are building something - a SaaS, an app, company.

To solve your visual communication, you have two options:

  1. Use AI;
  2. Hire a designer. An agency is out of the question due to high prices.

• AI helps, but it can make your app/business look generic and can cause it to lose impact.

• A fully customized branding can be expensive, even when not done by an agency. (I've seen solo designers charging from 5k for a complete visual identity)

What if there was a middle ground?

A kit with the essentials for building, within a fixed scope and fixed price: Brand guidelines, social media templates. Good visuals without being generic, but also without the full price of an agency.

Do you think this could be interesting? I'm asking this because I've seen people telling that the visuals are not so important in the beggining and I can understand that. But if someone is willing to invest in something more unique, the results will be better. What do you think?
