Janoo won the primary for Vermont governor today. She goes against a popular governor though. All the best to her November elections!!
I want to start by saying that I recognize how much Indian-Americans contribute to the Bay Area’s economy, culture, and communities. That’s not in question.
At the same time, I sometimes wonder whether the scale of the demographic change is beginning to feel like a significant cultural shift. Indian festivals, businesses, organizations, and cultural celebrations are increasingly visible throughout the region.
Is this simply what a diverse, evolving city looks like, or does it sometimes feel like the Bay Area is becoming disproportionately shaped by one immigrant community?
Genuinely curious how both longtime residents and Indian-Americans feel about this-not as an anti-Indian argument, but as a discussion about immigration, cultural identity, and how cities change over time.
Four helicopters since morning doing rounds all over the hilly parts of Los Gatos-Saratoga-SanJose triangle.
Congrats to all michiganders ! He definitely was the david in this fight. All the best for the next 90 days ! Dont let your friends and family be complacent irrespective of the poll predictions. Yesterday dearborn result were a bit rocky n shows ppl sat home thinking he will win comfortably.
Congratulations to his Desi in-laws who stood by him when tax returns were being scrutinized by establishment democrats and republicans.
Sharing this link as it was the one which I felt was comprehensive.
She popped up again on my feed. Looks like the colorful storm is headed towards Texas.
Do we give her a send off from here and leave her in the capable hands of r/TexasInfluencerSnark ?
While he got a lot of push back from one of the journalists, it looked like he lacked part of moral clarity on this issue.
Overall the interview made me wince a little. That interview, I think will hurt some of his 2028 chances. Or maybe it wont cause people will forget it for sure.
Hey Guys,
I am trying to attempt a fish curry which uses a tamarind broth / base. I have never bought fish in US specifically for indian curries. Which fish should I look if I dont have access to an indian butcher shop. I will probably go to one of the asian marts in my town and probably ask them to fillet it too.
Recently I have been noticing mango boxes get opened and strewn all over the fruit section. While I understand people tend to pick boxes with no rotten fruit, but here people are removing the cushion material and/ or opening the plastic enclosures completely.
Why arnt store managers discouraging this habit or is that level (lack) of hygiene acceptable?
I saw this in some of the norcal stores i visit.
Do you guys think if Childcare will ever enter political discussion/promises/ manifesto in San Jose. All I see and read is how schools 'need' to close cause no kids. But how will anybody raise kids if childcare is as much as mortgages for families.
I see this term of 'freebies' thrown in every second discussion I read in Indian subs. It could be something random like construction of a highway which has construction standards. Then there will be somebody who will come and say they have to cut corners cause need money to give freebies.
Sometimes I think i should reply that freebies have only reduced in the last six years, and this year with voter list being curtailed (to put it politely), those freebies are only reduced further.
So what to say here. Has anybody done any research on what 'freebies' are even being provided to people.
Hating your daughter so much that you kill her. I can't imagine this level of disgust for your own child.
17% men v/s 29% women holding vegetarinism food habits! Suggests like male children/ partner/ elders are eating meat in a household but for some reason women are not eating meat.
This is one of the reasons why malnutrition and imbalanced health is prevalent among Indian women across income classes.
Maybe 6/10 for attempting but I felt Prabal dint do his usual stunning work for the duo. Jewellery game was on point but nothing new or oomph-y about it.
I love the mask and the jacket ! She carries it well with her confidence!

PS: I dont understand why diet sabya used Bartan-core to describe this :-/
While I understand the intent of projecting Indian soft power, but this saree look+ over the top bodice work with jewellery - feels a little overdone to me.
Did not see any discussions on it, so thought will put this FYI-y kinda post.
The legislation—Assembly Bill A6920 and Senate Bill S6531—seeks to add caste as a protected category under New York’s Human Rights Law, closing a long-standing gap in civil rights protections across employment, housing, and public life.

A similar bill was vetoed in Cali by Newsom, so really hoping NY state gets it right.
SO today I had this discussion on r/bayarea about caltrain. My understanding is that bus feeder systems are quick and connect major transit hubs with high activity areas like tourist locales, commercial zones and or inter-transit hubs.
From the discussion, it felt people are considering any bus route which runs past transit hubs, and thats enough?
I studied urban planning like 20 years ago and transit wasnt my focus so really hoping somebody who can educate on the latest on bus feeder system design or definitions.
