My Dramione fanfic reading journey so far - would appreciate input on how to proceed

Hi y'all,

it was only a couple of months ago since I stumbled across >Manacled, read it and fell into the rabbit hole. What a reading experience!

Since then I have been reading Dramione fanfic like a madwoman. I still haven't recovered from manacled. Therefore I am avoiding dark fics at the moment.

So far I have read and loved

Depths over Distance

Absolutely fabulous. Might be my favourite Dramione fic so far. Love them both, love the banter

The Watergaw

That one had all the feels. Loved it. So poignant.

A Hard Row to Hoe

The first part blew me away. The banter! The wit! The characters! The twists! Absolutely top notch. I do admit I did not care for the Evangeline plot line. But the writing is fantastic.

The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy

I loved how this fic felt like one of the original books. It took my right back to the time when I was reading all the books.

Wait and Hope and Beginning an End.

Absolutely fantastic. I loved both of them, probably Beginning and End even more because of the sloooooooow burn.

I do have a copy of DMATMOOBIL but I want to keep it for later. I have heard so much praise about this fic and I just want tio look forward to it a bit longer. I also have Detraquee bookmarked but I am not sure what to expect. Is ist fluffy, funny, plot-driven, character growth or angsty? I also have the Timeless series and the Right and Wrong series but I am also not sure what to expect of these. I try to avoid dark and angsty or fics where they have a toxic or abusive relationship.

How shall I proceed? Do you have any recs, especially for fics in the spririt and writing style of Depths Over Distance and The Watergaw?

I am looking for real character growth, especially for Draco. No insta-saint Draco and if possible also no Lord Malfoy. No Ron or Harry bashing, please because I love them to pieces. Fun and banter is great or fics that have a deep emotional impact without totally gutting me. But nothing that's too sweet and romantic either.

Looking for a specific fic set in the Manacled verse

Hi y'all,

a couple of months I fell into the Manacled rabbit hole and immediately afterwards I read each and every fic I could find on AO3 that is set in the Manacled verse. I am talking about missing scenes from Manacled or scenes re-written from Draco's POV.

There was one story I can't find again now and it's driving me nuts. I don't remember if it was a one shot or a longer fic. I don't remember if it was complete or a WIP.

The only thing I know was this: Draco and Hermione's first encounter at the safe hause was written from Draco's POV and when he first sees her he doesn't recpgnize her and thinks the order has sent someone else. It's only a short moment. When she starts to walk up to him and to speak he realizes it is her after all but at first he is furious because he thinks the order is trying to trick him.

Does anyone remember this one scene? I know it is a long shot but I had to ask.

What do you love about seasons 5 and six?

I am a first time watcher and half way through season 6.

I try to word this as carefully as I can - I find season 5 and 6 (so far) very different in style from seasons 1 to 4. What I loved about seasons 1 to 4 was how the show wove historic events and personal drama into each other and created a story out of it. The show was never about relationships alone but it was never about politics or history alone either. It was a perfect mix. I find the show to focus much more on the personal relationships in season 5 and season 6 (so far). But maybe I am missing the greater picture or the beautiful details. Therefore I'd really like you all to share your love about seasons 5 and 6.

I also have one additional question regarding Willismania. Is it known how much time William and Harry spent into each others company after Diana's death? They both went to Eton but their age difference might have prevented them from seeing each other while at school. We don't see them having lunch at school or hanging out. That would leave the weekends but I'd be interested if there are actual facts about how close Wills and Harry were during those years until they were both grown up.

I am a first time watcher and I am surprised at how much I like the series. The one thing that won me over was how every episode felt like a lesson in history without feeling like a lesson.

I like Gillian Anderson as Thatcher. I think she did a good job (Anderson, not Thatcher). However, what put me off was that in the show Thatcher started her tenure as prime minister as an old woman.

In reality she was in her 50s when she moved into Downing Street and although that was a bit older than it is today it wasn't as she was in her 70s.

But that's how she looks like, talks like and walks like. And when she leaves Downing street 12 years later she is exactly the same age. Not a day older.

Did anyone else notice that too?
