6 month old comfort feeds throughout night but doesn’t “wake”

is this a scheduling issue?

just about to turn 6 months, has been happening since 3.5 months that she wakes every 45-90 mins to comfort feed. only twice in those 2.5 months I’ve had to rock her, otherwise it’s boob for 2-15 mins and straight back to sleep, she doesn’t even open her eyes.

im wondering if it’s a scheduling issue if she doesn’t fully wake or is she still just struggling to link sleep cycles?

I sometimes try to get a first stint in the cot with mixed success, 99% time were cosleeping.

im desperate for longer stretches, but don’t know where to start experimenting. I think our cosleeping is waking her up but she won’t stay in the cot. I’m thinking floor bed but husband is reluctant to try it because of the time and money spent if it doesn’t work.

typical day

wake up 7.30-8.30am

first nap 9.30-10.30am for 90 mins (this is new in last couple weeks, all naps were 45 mins for a couple months)

second nap around 2.30ish for 45-75 mins

sometimes a third nap around 6-7pm for 30-45 mins.

usually asleep by 9.30-10.30 sometimes as late at 11.

bed time doesn’t seem to impact her morning wake time e.g she could go to bed at 9.30pm and wake 8.30am or 11pm and wake 7.30

also might be worth mentioning no matter how long that last wake window is she is veryyyy fussy around 8.30 which is when I used start with feeding, deep pressure, couple of books and rocking to sleep

I have a feeling she’s getting too much sleep but she’s so cranky without her naps around those times? I mostly go on cues. for a week she started stretching her wake windows to 3 hours but they’re back to around 2 now.

any ideas pls 😭

Has the heatwaves ruined mat leave for anyone else?

I’m writing this partly tongue in cheek because I know it’s indicative of way bigger issues than my mat leave but…. my mat leave 😭😭😭

my first few months were pretty terrible after traumatic birth, pnd and a high needs baby, just as I felt we were turning a corner boom heatwave after heatwave. my LO gets clammy and restless from 18 degrees up and I’m constantly overheating with breastfeeding hormones, so days like today (34 degrees) feel intolerable.

My baby doesn’t really like shops (not sure if it’s the lighting or she’s anti consumerist) and is grumpy in the evenings so 7pm park walks aren’t her fave. A lot of the groups near me are cancelling because of no aircon also. I’m just day dreaming of being able to go for spontaneous walks outside without melting onto the pavement.

Just a phase or should I change sleep set up?

context: baby is 4 months next week. usually fed to sleep with 90% success rate, this is dwindling 🥲 usually start night in next to me crib and co sleep after first or second wake up in c curl position

about 2 weeks ago, LO started to become sensitive to touching me in c curl position when sleeping, thrashing a little and waking self up, needing to be fed to sleep again. as I have a short torso and she is above avg length this meant hourly wake ups.

we went on holiday last week where she had a big travel cot, and she slept really well there for first 2 nights, but with same issues when it came time to co sleep after waking. now for past 3 nights (2 on holidays one at home) she has been waking hourly and hasn’t been able to be fed to sleep, neeeding yoga ball in the night which is normally only used for naps or getting over to sleep at start of the night.

i understand infant sleep changes frequently and it is normal to wake frequently through the night, but it seems like she’s waking because she’s hitting off me mostly? do I need to change up our sleeping arrangements and try to be more persistent with putting her back into her crib after night wakes?

she also started to pull herself up to stand using our hands 2 weeks ago (obviously she’s so young so she stands for a couple of seconds but its her fave thing to do right now over and over again) and yesterday started to grab her ankles/feet in happy baby pose. I heard sleep can be disrupted when learning a new skill, is this more likely the cause for wakes and I just need to ride it out? She’s also early teething.

4mo has started hating c curl

hi, I’ve been cosleeping with my nearly 4mo since she was a few weeks old.

we can usually get the first stretch of the night in the next to me crib and then she’ll join me in the bed. this can be from 2-3am on a “good” night and as early as 11pm or 11am on a “bad” night. she goes to bed around 9-10pm usually.

over a week ago any time she would touch me she would startle to wake and I’d have to feed back to sleep. she becomes really unsettled and kicks and thrashes a lot. I have a short torso and she’s relatively tall so she was of course touching me nearly constantly in c curl.

we then went on holiday last week and we had a big travel cot at the bottom of the bed. for the first two nights she did really long stretches in it before cosleeping and being unsettled from touching me, so I thought maybe she needs more space.

after 2 nights she wouldn’t stay in for more than 2 hours and same issue with cosleeping persisted.

we are home again and she would not stay in the next to me crib. I kept trying to transfer her back into it but she would wake every hour to 45 mins. she isn’t even interested in feeding sometimes.

she is also definitely teething as she’s drooling and chewing everything non stop and pulling her ears. she is also trying to use our hands to pull up to stand at every opportunity and just found her feet yesterday.

is the frequent wakes and kicking and startling just a phase to go through or does she need more of her own space?
